Issue with SNMP InOctet and OutOctet counter for switch when traffic in network is high

Chandini
RUCKUS Team Member

Switch models used:

  • 7650
  • 7850

Versions tested:

  • TNR10000.bin (UFI)
  • TNR09010.bin (UFI)

Observation is that when the traffic is low in InOctet and OutOctet counters for Counter 64 and Counter32 values are correct but when it reaches 10 digits and above for Counter32 and Counter64 values are not correct

In Counter 32 it is not staying constant at its max value but varies where traffic is high

In counter 64 we see the 11th digit but looks restricted to only 10 digits, we will be unable to see it go above 10 digits.

Below are the Lab test results:

For 7850:

  • Software version: TNR10000.bin (UFI)

From 7750 Switch:

ICX7750-48F, 08.0.30a:

IF-MIB::ifInOctets.1 = Counter32: 2586343260
IF-MIB::ifHCInOctets.1 = Counter64: 10555524666401580

InPkts 10937635334137 OutPkts 11431983718176

The counter64 values should look like output for 7750 switches but in version 9010 and 10.0.0 we see only 10 digits display.

Solution: Patch will be released in 9010g and 10.0.10b version and defect is logged under ID: FI-272681
