Firmware version

  • Make sure both Access points are on the same version
  • SSH to the assets and run the command

# get version

or

# fw show all

  • Make sure that the outputs match and the AP is booted on the right boot partition

Gateway detection

  • Make sure that the Root Bridge has an ARP against its gateway
  • Make sure that the non-Root bridge does not have an ARP entry for its gateway
    • Look for this information on the Support information Maintenance::Support Info page, Save to Local Computer -> supportinfo.txt.

### IP/MAC Learning Table ###
ip port VLAN mac addr ageing timer
10.0.16.1 eth0 16 00:09:0f:09:00:08 867.19
ipv6 port VLAN mac addr ageing timer

ARP detection

  • Make sure that the an ARP entry does not exist for the Root on the non-root and vice versa

On the AP support logs look for the following output:

  • Look for this information on the Support information Maintenance::Support Info page, Save to Local Computer -> supportinfo.txt.

  • Loop detection can be disabled - caution do this only if we are absolutely certain that there will not be a wired loop

rkscli: set meshcfg loop_detect disable OK
rkscli: get meshcfg

Keeping them in too close of a proximity

  • Make sure the root and non root are separated by at least 10 - 20 feet
  • It is difficult to align them just right if they are too close to each other due to the nature of the internal antenna -
