This is an example how to configure breakout ports on ICX7850, which is similar to other ICX models, however it might change the ports available per each ICX Model (7750,7550)
Breakout mode is when a high-speed interface, for example 40 or 100g ports, is broken down into multiple lower-speed ports using a specific cable to connect multiple devices.

Example breakout cable 40g ports
Breakout ports available for each ICX7850 model
Note: Breakout ports can’t be enable on switch if stacking is enable.
Note: Before configuring breakout port make sure ports do not have any configuration. The breakout ethernet command first checks for existing configuration on the port. If existing configuration is detected, an error will be displayed to indicate that prior configuration must be removed.
Configuration example
Device# configure terminal
Device(config)# breakout ethernet 1/1/11
Reload required. Please write memory and then reload or power cycle.
Device(config)# write memory
Write startup-config done.
Device#reload
