ICX 7150 not booting after being unplugged

Hello,

After being unplugged I noticed that my switch was not booting properly and that the light for "system" is a solid amber color. After some searching on forums, etc I believe that the boot config file has been corrupted or along those lines.

I attempted to follow this YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHriOYYD_iI&t=11s) to flash a new image to the switch but I am unable to provide keyboard input while using HyperTerminal or SecureCRT. I have ensured that the settings are configured as Baud 9600, data bits 8, parity none, stop bits 1, and flow control none. I have tried this while using a RJ-45 cable to serial and serial to USB. I have also tried using a USB-C to USB-A cable.

Here is the log that displays when the switch is connected to secureCRT:

Ruckus Wireless Bootloader: 10.1.14T225 (Nov 15 2018 - 04:59:18 -0800)

As I stated above, I cannot provide keyboard input to enter "b" to stop at boot monitor.

At this point I am unsure what to do or even if I assumed correctly that the config file become corrupted during the power outage.

I have no networking experience so I hope that someone can help me with the issue I am having.

Thanks!

Connor

Hello,

I followed the upgrade via flash drive guide last night. It looks like I’m back online and the boot loop no longer occurs once the switch loses power.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @connor

Basically if the switch has solid amber ight, it means that the switch is stuck in boot mode.

1-Please try to disconnect from the Power outlet the ICX-7150 and reconnect it.

2-Please try to press the reset button using a paper click or a small stick

  1. Remove power from the switch.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  3. After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

If this step doesn't work, we need to perform a software recovery.

Here is the quick guide to perform software recovery.

Note: after fixing the issue of the Switch been stuck in boot mode, please perform an upgrade to the code 08095g UFI and upgrade both partitions with the switching code file named SPS08095gufi.bin, so perform the software recovery using the code 08090k with the upgrade image file named SPS08090k.bin, then when the switch is back to normal upgrade to the file SPS08095gufi.bin for both partitions primary and secondary.

Thank you for the quick reply! I will try the suggestions when I get home. I noticed in one of the guides they say they will be using the 08090k firmware. I read somewhere that in order to upgrade to 08090+ you must first have 08080f installed. Is this still true? I am unsure what firmware my ICX had installed prior to the boot loop.

Thanks again!

Hi @connor_mcdonald

No, You can upgrade to 08080f or 08090k. Also to check the codes of both primary and secondary please use the below command.

ICX7150-Boot>show_image
===========================
Primary  :
NAND read: device 0 offset 0x0, size 0x200
512 bytes read: OK
SPR08095h(33554432)
Secondary:
NAND read: device 0 offset 0x4000000, size 0x200
512 bytes read: OK
SPR08080f(29829112)

Good evening,

I tried following the guide you posted above. When I get to the Putty step, putty is not registering keyboard strokes, similarly to what I said in my original post regarding hyper terminal and secureCRT.

How should I proceed?
