Re: ICX7150-C12 Switch - POE Fatal

lenar_ruck_user

Hi,

I am having this same problem ("PoE Fatal: Vmain (48V) fault has forced all ports on slot 0 to lose power."). The APs started to sporadically lose POE after a power outage.

I started down this path:How to Upgrade a Switch ICX-7150-C12P using a USB flash drive

However, after the first reboot I have lost access to the console due to constant POE error messages.

I have tried both methods referenced above to "To disable the logs for the PoE error, run the next commands."

Neither worked.

I made to this step (20- Once the switch is running 8080f version, we can proceed to install the 8095hufi, in this version as I mentioned previously, the boot code is not needed to be install separately since it is included in the same file.) but can't really verify versions etc. since my console filled with errors.

What should I try next?

Hi @lenar_ruck_user ,

Greetings!

Thank you for contacting RUCKUS Lennar Home Community.

I hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the information you shared.

From the case description, I understand that you are facing issues with PoE on the Switch after the power outage.

Before we can help, we need to check which version the Switch is currently running.

Please follow the below steps and help us with the queries,

1.   To check this, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find the IP Address of the RUCKUS Devices (Switch and APs) using IP Scanner free applications:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-find-the-IP-Address-o...

2.   Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-access-the-Command-Li...

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

Please share the output of the above commands or share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

Pinky Rajendran

Thank you Pinky!

  • I found the IP
  • SSH was disabled
  • I could not log in to the web interface (not default creds)
  • Telnet was the ticket!

I was able to continue on the upgrade path and it seems that has fixed my POE issues... APs back online. Here is the output you requested:

Follow-up Questions:

  • Can you provide pointers on how to upgrade the switch to the most recent firmware?
  • I have IPs for the APs but I cannot log in via http or ssh
    • What is the best way to reset or recover the password for the APs so I can manage them? I don't think recovery was setup during install and I don't have the password.
    • Likewise, are there guides for upgrading these to the latest FW?
  • Are there security/hardening guides for this setup?

Thanks again for the help, much appreciated!

Hello @lenar_ruck_user ,

Thank you for the response.

We are glad to know that the Poe issue has been resolved after the upgrade has been performed.

I understand you have few follow-up questions and am glad to address all your queries.

1.    Upon checking the output you shared, I see that the Switch is in the latest version (08.0.90h) and you do not have to perform Firmware upgrade on the Switch currently.

As you have accessed the CLI of the Switch using the Telnet option, you can go ahead and reset the Switch credentials using the following commands.

Once you are able to access the CLI, I would request you to please execute the following commands to reset the Switch login credentials.

ICX7150-12P Switch>enable

ICX7150-12P Switch#configure terminal

ICX7150-12P Switch# username super password pass

Where the username is ’super’ and password ‘pass’ (You could choose any of your choices)

To allow the correct authentication please run the following commands:

ICX7150-12P Switch (config)#crypto key generate rsa

ICX7150-12P Switch (config)# aaa authentication login default local
ICX7150-12P Switch (config)# aaa authentication web-server default local

2.  As you have the Ip address of the Access points, you do not have to login using ssh or http. You may please log in to your Unleashed system on a LAPTOP WEB BROWSER using the Master AP IP Address OR https://unleashed.ruckuswireless.com/

.Please try to use the default combination credentials as mentioned below to login to the Ap using browser or through app.

3. We suggest you upgrade your ALL RUCKUS R510 Access Points to version 200.15.6.12.304 which is recently released.

Please follow the below RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge base self-help article which will help you to upgrade the Ruckus AP to a recommended version.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/Upgrade-process-of-the-RUCKU...

4.  There are no security or hardening guidelines for the setup. However, for guidance on setting up your system, please refer to the RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge Base self-help article linked below. The article includes detailed instructions for the setup process.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/RUCKUS-Lennar-Home-devices-C...

Please follow the steps and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Best regards,

Pinky Rajendran

Thanks Pinky! Unfortunately, none of these credentials worked on the web login. What do you recommend?

Thanks.
