AP have no power after internet issues

Not_An_IT_Guy

I lost internet connection from provider due to a fiber wire that was cut and needed repair somewhere in providers end. Initially rebooted router and gained internet back from provider. Once I had my internet back I noticed my AP were not working and had no power. AP 1 and AP 2 are connected on port 1 and 2 on the switch and does not light up when plugged in. I switched ports and still no light. I’ve connected a different cat cable to ports where AP were connected and they light up so I know the ports aren’t bad. I need help with figuring out why my AP are not working. I looked through all threads and followed reset instructions and still nothing. All that CLI and doing all kind of things through computer are hard to follow. Is there an easier way for a home user to fix with hardly any IT knowledge?

Hi @Not_An_IT_Guy

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information.

As I see from the output you shared, your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch is on an older SPS08060 version, and we recommend you upgrade it to a stable version.

Please follow the below steps explaining the Upgrade process.

The recommended stable version is 8095g (08.0.95g)

The Upgrade path would be: 08060 (your current version)>>8080f>>8095g

(PLEASE NOTE: Use 08095g patch in place of 8095h as explained in the guide)

Your Upgrade folder should contain these 3 files shown in the below screenshot: (Refer the guide link for more information)

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch: You could choose any one of these.

1st Option:

1. In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

2. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

How to upgrade a Switch ICX7150-C12P via TFTP

3rd Option:

3. In this option we Upgrade the Switch from the Web Interface (GUI) of switch.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-perform-an-Upgrade-vi...

Try to access your switch from a web browser by pasting the below URL in http or https form whichever that works.

https://0.0.0.0 or http://0.0.0.0 (IP address of Switch. 0.0.0.0 is just as an example)

As you can access CLI, I would suggest you follow the 2nd option.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Best regards,

Hi @Not_An_IT_Guy

Seems that your switch may present some PoE issues (power over Ethernet)
To solve this you must access the command line of the Switch and do some diagnostics

If you have access to the CLI, please provide me with the following commands:

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command:

ICX7150-C12 Switch>enable
ICX7150-C12 Switch#show version
ICX7150-C12 Switch#show inline power
ICX7150-C12 Switch#show inline power detail

Copy and paste the results on the chat (here)

Unfortunately, I cant access the CLI as the ip address does not populate and the tutorials on here are confusing.

I have tried everything in these forums and nothing has worked. Ive wasted so many hours on this its riduculous. I have tried trouble shooting by disconnecting power and reconnecting, factory reset 15 plus times but wont reset, I have tried a software recovery and cant access the switch to perform recovery. switch recovery

Hi @Not_An_IT_Guy

The other method to access to the switch is via console (cable access) in this case we need a USB type C to USB standard or Console cable Rj45 to USB.

1-Here is the guide on how to access through the console and pre-install the necessary software

How to console in an ICX-7150-12c
https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-console-in-the-ICX-71...

NOTE:
To access by console must install a driver so that the workstation/pc/desktop or laptop can recognize the cable

Make sure to download the zip drive for the file below & "extract all". Once it's extracted, run the file ,driver should be installed.

Once you access the switch, you can run the commands I previously shared and paste them here.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
