My home is equipped with Lennar Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P and two APs. It was staying without any connection for a long period of time. Two years since we bought the house, I got a cable internet and was trying to connect Ruckus system to a router. It did not show any life even with trying several different setups and reloading (shutting off and on) the systems. After resetting my Switchboard, I gain access to each of two APs, but they do not see each other and cannot work with each other to extend the Wi-Fi network for the whole house. It seems that they are connecting to my router and providing internet access, but the connection is not stable. Moreover, I still cannot connect to the Switchboard. I see it in the network as "pending". Entering standard logins don't give me access. Can you provide a suggestions to what to do?

Hi @Sergy

Currently, the optimal choice would involve uploading the correct image (SPS08090d.bin). However, given that you will be carrying out this task, I would strongly recommend upgrading to the 8095g image (SPS08095g.bin) for the best outcome.

Please follow the below steps explaining the Upgrade process. The recommended stable version is 8095g (08.0.95g)

>The Upgrade path would be: (your current version) to 8095g (Please use the version that says UFI example: SPS08095gufi.bin)

(PLEASE NOTE: Use 08095g patch in place of 80xx as explained in the guide)

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch: You could choose any one of these.

1st Option:In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

How to Upgrade a Switch ICX-7150-C12P using a USB flash drive

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

  1. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

How to upgrade a Switch ICX7150-C12P via TFTP

3rd Option:

  1. In this option we Upgrade the Switch from the Web Interface (GUI) of switch.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-perform-an-Upgrade-vi...

Try to access your switch from a web browser by pasting the below URL in http or https form whichever that works.

https://0.0.0.0 or http://0.0.0.0 (IP address of Switch. 0.0.0.0 is just as an example)

>>>>As you can access CLI, I would suggest you follow the 2nd option.

Note:
*For UFI versions, the boot code is embedded in the image so there is no need to upload/use  the "boot"  command or the file.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Hi @Sergy

Greetings!!!
Thank you for the response and the update.

Please make sure to follow the below process to factory reset your APs to configure them with a new Wi-Fi Network/ SSID.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To perform a factory reset correctly on one of the access points, you must disconnect the rest of your other access points from the "ICX-7150-switch". For example, if you have 3 access points, you should go to the switch and disconnect 2 of the cables to turn off the "2 access points" and only leave 1 connected with which we are going to work the factory reset once you configure the access point and make sure all is good, go ahead and reconnect the other Access Points back.

As you have 2 R510 Access Points in your setup, remove the cables of any ONE Access Point, and perform the factory reset only on the ONE connected access point. Once you complete it, connect the unplugged Access point cables back to the Switch ports and it will sync up with the configurations from the factory reset Access Point.

Sofia,

Thank you very much for your patience and help with my switch. The instructions seems to be well written and understood. However I was not able to upgrade the code to 08095g. with recommended option #2. It gives me an TFTP time out: error #5. I found that it may be due to mismatch of IP address and that DHCP client may be grabbing the wrong IP address. I followed the instructions to bypass the DHCP temporary and manually assign the IP address. Here is the guide:

https://fohdeesha.com/docs/icx7150.html

It seems to work until I try to copy code file via TFTP again. And it says "TFTP to Flash Error - code 5".

So I prepared the USB drive and was able to fix the code in my switch by copying it from the drive0.

Ok, Now I have upgraded 08095g.bin (UFI) in both flash images. I restarted the switch hoping that my APs would finally "marry" into one happy Wi-Fi. But No. They do not see each other on one network. Both of them have ver. 200.14.

I am confused and frustrated.

Will be waiting for additional instructions.

Hi @Sergy

Could you help me with the show version command?  How are the APs lights now? Green, blinking, static, red?

Kind regards,

The status of APs are the same as before:

1. Master AP (which has Wi-Fi network set up) has 4 lights on and solid

AP1 - Master - lights status.jpg

2. The one that needs to find and extend the network has two lights, one is solid and one is blinking:

3. Regarding the switch version, please see this screenshot:

Hi @Sergy

Could you kindly disconnect and then reconnect the second AP about three times to check if it can successfully join your existing network?

Hello Sofia,

It was a few days since I updated the log with my issues.
The last several days I was disconnecting and reconnecting the second AP from the switch, so it would find the existing Wi-Fi, connect, and extend it for the whole house. But it does not do that. It gets stuck on broadcasting the "Configure-me..." network even after resetting this specific AP unit.
