WAPs have no power

SMS2024

I have three WAPs in my house and all are without power.  We have the main controller which has power but nothing else.  Things I have tried:

  • Resetting the WAPs
  • Resetting the main controller
  • Running a different ethernet cable to the WAP to see if the cable was the issue

If there is anything else I should try please let me know.

Hi SMS2024

Thank you for contacting Lennar Home Community.

Hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the detailed information you shared,

As per the case description, I could understand that you have 3 WAP’s and they are not getting power from the main controller (ICX-7150-C12P Switch)

Could you please let us know?

  1. Was there any power outage?
  2. On your switch while it's plugged into the outlet, do you see any lights on? (Amber or green) Please let us know which lights are on. (Please refer to the below picture)

  1. Also please Make sure it is plugged into a well-known outlet/power source.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Best regards,

1.  There was a power outage prior to these not working

2.  There are lights on (upload would work, link to image here:  https://imgur.com/a/ypLa1eh

If that link does not work let me know a better way to share it.  There is an amber light on the "SYST" and a green light on the "PWR" in the section above the usb/ethernet ports

3.  It is plugged into the same outlet it has been forever.  Outlet has been tested with other electronics and I have also plugged it in via extension cords to another outlet to verify that it is not a bad outlet.

Hi SMS2024

Thank you for the response and detailed information.

As you mentioned and I can see from the picture you shared, there is an amber light on the "SYST" and a green light on the "PWR" in the section above the USB/ethernet ports. Meaning the Switch is stuck in the boot mode.

Basically, due to the power outage/ power spike, the switch went to a state that we called (boot mode) that is not able to boot up properly.

And it does not mean it’s broken or needs to be replaced 'in some cases’

Please follow to below steps in order to fix this issue:

  1. Please try to disconnect from the Power outlet the ICX-7150 and reconnected.
  2. Please try to press the reset button using a paper click or a small stick
  • Remove power from the switch.
  • Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  • After all, the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

If that does not make any difference, we need to perform a software recovery since it can be that the image flash is corrupted in basic words the unit is not able to boot up properly and need re-install the image to boot up properly.

  1. We must get console access to the ICX-7150-C12P Switch as mentioned in the steps from the guide below:

Ok so I went through the process described above.  I did the reset where I disconnected and then held the button in, then reconnected to the power and got to the point where the lights were flashing, but only amber colored.

Next I followed the steps to console in but I got down to the part where I have configured the switch and have connectivity but when I got to the next set of commands to enter it timed out.   It got to the part where it says "Loading" but then the next line I get in Putty is "Retry count exceeded; starting again" and I am not sure where to go from there.  Any ideas on your end?
