Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P wired internet connected and working but no wireless network.

I have a Lennar home and AT&T Fiber for a few years. I have had issue with Ruckus before but most of the time rebooting would resolve it, until today.

My Ruckus has dropped wifi network today and after rebooting it comes up but dropping soon after (cannot find Wifi network name on Computer and phone). The smart home hub and all other devices that are wired connected to the other ports of the Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P switch still works. And my wireless network from AT&T modem/router also works.

I've tried to rebooting the Ruckus switch a few times but the problem still persists. Can you please advise?

Hi @lennarhome21

Greetings of the day!!!

Thank you for your time and patience.

Based on the troubleshooting conducted and our discussion in private chat, it appears that your ICX-7150-C12P Switch is consistently encountering a fatal PoE error when attempting the upgrade through various methods on the CLI. Despite trying all available options, the issue persists. It’s a symptom of hardware failure. Therefore, the most appropriate course of action would be to initiate an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for the switch unit, essentially replacing it.

Feel free to contact us via chat, comment you already have a post, copy the link from the post (URL), and paste it into the chat to start the unit replacement.

Please follow the steps as shown in the below example:

Status update:

  • I can confirm there is wired connectivity from the switch. In the picture, The black ethernet cable farthest to the right is connected to my computer and it is green lit.image.jpg

  • other smarthome devices connected to the switch works
  • There are no power to the 2 AccessPoints. No lights on both APs and there are no light in the ports where the 2 blue cable are plugged in.
  • I had tried to switch the AP cable to different port but still no light on and no power to the AP.

Other issues while troubleshooting:

  • I had identified the IP address of the switch and get to the login screen, but unable to login using my dashboard password.
  • image.jpg
  • I had downloaded putty and ruckus driver to try console in the switch, but getting this error while typing in the IP
  • image.jpg

  • when selecting Serial for USB instead of IP, I got the "PoE Fatal: Vmain (48V) fault has forced all ports on slot 0 to lose power." That keep running nonstop.
  • image.jpg

Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to resolve this issue. From the support articles I read, looks like I’d have to do a factory reset. However, I am concern that I cannot do it with the ability to access the console’s dashboard or command line?

Hi @lennarhome21

Greetings!!!

Thank you for contacting RUCKUS Lennar Home Community.

I hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the detailed information you shared.

As per the case description, I understand that your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch is not working with RUCKUS Access Points and has no power.

Could you please try to log into the CLI using the Telnet option as described in the below RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge Base self-help article?

Here is a guide on how to access the CLI:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-access-the-Command-Li...

After successfully accessing the CLI, please execute the following commands and provide the outputs:

   enable

   show version

   show flash

   show inline power

   show inline power detail

   show interface brief

If you are unable to get the CLI Access please try to log into the Switch dashboard on the Web browser and confirm if you can log in there.

Please let me know if that works.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

I had also tried to enable the PoE per another post, and after that all 12 ports have admin state now. However,  the 1/1/1 and 1/1/2 port where the APs plugged in still have that "main supply voltage low" error.
