How can we get help for icx 7150 to turn on

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @Vasayasultan

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the detailed information you shared.

As you mentioned there are lights on the PWR and SYST, if there is an amber/orange light on the "SYST" and a green light on the "PWR" on the Switch (as it is in the below picture). Meaning the Switch is stuck in the boot mode.

Basically, due to the power outage/ power spike, the switch went to a state that we call ‘boot mode’ that is not able to boot up properly. This is the reason your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch is unable to transmit power (PoE- Power over Ethernet) to the Access Points or on its ports.

Please follow the below steps to fix this issue:

We will try to reset the Switch as described below VIDEO:

1. Please try to disconnect from the Power outlet the ICX-7150 and reconnect.

2. Please try to press the reset button using a paper click or a small stick

  • Remove power from the switch.
  • Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  • After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jHMTdo_hK4

IF THE RESET IS NOT WORKING, PLEASE TRY TO RESET YOUR SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES (Like 10-15 times) AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. As we have seen it working sometimes after trying multiple times in many cases. If the reset with a paperclip works, the SYST and PWR lights should turn GREEN.

IF RESET DOESN’T WORK: Please follow the below steps.

If the reset does not make any difference, we need to perform a software recovery since it can be that the image flash is corrupted in basic words the unit is not able to boot up properly and need re-install the image to boot up properly.

Below is the Guide and Video Link to perform the Software recovery process:

Please refer to the below guide and Video link:

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql22blH_CGo

Please note, we must use ethernet cable (both ends RJ45 plugs) and USB to type C cable both together as described in steps 2 & 3 in the guide link.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Hi @Vasayasultan

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information.

We suggest upgrading your Switch. The recommended stable version is 8095g (08.0.95g)

Please follow the below steps explaining the Upgrade process.

The Upgrade path would be: 08090d (your current version) >>8095g

(PLEASE NOTE: Use 08095g patch in place of 8095h as explained in the guide and please IGNORE 8080f)

Your Upgrade folder should contain these 1 file shown in the below screenshot: (Refer the guide link for more information)

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch: You could choose any one of these.

1st Option:

1. In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

How to Upgrade a Switch ICX-7150-C12P using a USB flash drive

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

2. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

How to upgrade a Switch ICX7150-C12P via TFTP

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

3rd Option:

3. In this option we Upgrade the Switch from the Web Interface (GUI) of switch.

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-perform-an-Upgrade-vi...

Try to access your switch from a web browser by pasting the below URL in http or https form whichever that works.

https://0.0.0.0 or http://0.0.0.0 (IP address of Switch. 0.0.0.0 is just as an example)

If you can access CLI, I would suggest you follow the 2nd option.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Hi @Vasayasultan

Thank you for the response and the update.

As I see your Switch is on the 8090k version. Could you please update the Switch on the 8095g stable version as explained in detail in my upgrade post?

I would suggest upgrade the Switch using 2nd option using CLI.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.
