Hi @Rayoub

Greetings!!!

Thank you for contacting Lennar Home Community.

Hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the detailed information you shared.

As per the case description, I could understand that you are unable to reset your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch which is flashing amber continuously after a power outage and Access Points have no power.

As you mentioned there are amber lights flashing. Meaning the Switch is stuck in the boot mode.

Basically, due to the power outage/ power spike, the switch went to a state that we call ‘boot mode’ that is not able to boot up properly.

Please follow the below steps to fix this issue:

As you mentioned that you tried resetting, once again we will try to reset the Switch as described below:

1. Please try to disconnect from the Power outlet the ICX-7150 and reconnect.

2. Please try to press the reset button using a paper click or a small stick

  • Remove power from the switch.
  • Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  • After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

Below is the Guide and Videos link for your reference:

IF RESET IS NOT WORKING, PLEASE TRY TO RESET YOUR SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES (Like 10-15 times) AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

IF RESET DOESN’T WORK: Please follow the below steps.

If the reset does not make any difference, we need to perform a software recovery since it can be that the image flash is corrupted in basic words the unit is not able to boot up properly and need re-install the image to boot up properly.

Below is the Guide and Video Link to perform the Software recovery process:

Please refer to the below guide and Video link:

Please use a Windows laptop/PC for the software recovery process as there are some issue with MAC device.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience.

Hi @Rayoub

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the update.

Great!!! Good to know that Switch is back to its normal state.

To avoid this issue in the future, we must Upgrade your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch to the latest stable version.

We must check your current version of the Switch to proceed further. Please follow the below process and help us with the command outputs to check the same.

And I would suggest, and request arrange a Windows laptop/PC for the upgrade process. Since it is much easier.

Please follow the below steps and help us with the queries,

1. To check this issue, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find my Ruckus “Devices IP address” using free applications:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-find-my-Ruckus-Device...

2. Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

How to remotely access to 'ICX 7150-C12P' or 'access points' "Network devices":

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-remotely-access-to-IC...

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

Please share the output of the above commands or share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hi Imran I was finally able to connect to the IP address of the switch and get version information. here it is.

Running Image Version:

SW: Version 08.0.90dT213
Compiled on Sep 23 2019 at 00:00:25 labeled as SPR08090d

Hi @Rayoub

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

This issue is because your switch is running on the Routing code (SPR). The Switch should run on the Switching code (SPS) to avoid these issues for Lennar home users. Due to a power outage/power spike, the Switch boots up on the other partition which may be running on a ‘Routing Code’ results in causing this issue.

As I can see from the output you shared, your Switch is booted up on the secondary partition which is running on Routing code (SPR) as highlighted in the below screenshot.

Please Enter the below commands in CLI to fix this issue:

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

copy flash flash secondary

boot system flash secondary yes

Example:

VIDEO LINK AS REFERENCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eem1IBgYaWc

ICX7150-24P Router>enable (hit enter to accept the command)
ICX7150-24P Router#copy flash flash secondary (hit enter to accept the command and wait: until the flash finished)
ICX7150-24P Router#boot system flash secondary yes (hit enter to accept the command: the switch will reboot)

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.
