Ruckus switch not working (i think)

relingburg
New Contributor III

i have a lennar home, a ruckus switch, 2 APs, and for a week now, we have not been able to get a connection through the switch. lights are on on the APs, the network shows up but once connected, you're offline. it makes no sense. i have no idea what to do, ruckus will not help me, and i need my internet in order to get my job done. as another user said, the "instructions" provided here are way over my head, i think it's ridiculous that it's taking me this long to get the issue resolved, and i still see no end in sight. can anyone help me?

Hi @relingburg

Please run the next commands to fix the routing code issue, when the switch comes back, or you have time you can upgrade to the code 08095g, however, after running the commands that I will provide the slow connectivity will be fixed.

Commands:

enable

copy flash flash secondary

write memory

Boot system flash primary yes

Example and explanation:

ICX7150-C12 Router>enable

ICX7150-C12 Router>show flash  (you can confirm in which partition you have the correct code that will start with SPS example: SPS08080f.bin normally will be your primary partition)

ICX7150-C12 Router#copy flash flash secondary  (this will copy what is in your primary code to the secondary)

ICX7150-C12 Router# write memory

ICX7150-C12 Router#show flash  (now both partitions must start with the SPS before the code type)

ICX7150-C12 Router#Boot system flash primary yes

Hi @relingburg

Greetings!!!

Apologies for the inconvenience.

As we can see from the information you shared (Please refer to the below screenshot), your switch is running on the Routing Code (SPR08090d, R-Indicates Routing code). It has to be run on Switching SPS (S-Indicates Switching code) code to avoid issues for Lennar home users.

Please perform the below commands on CLI to fix the issue and set Switch on the ‘Switching code’.

enable

copy flash flash secondary

boot system flash secondary yes

UPGRADE:

We suggest you upgrade your switch to the latest stable version to avoid this issue in future:

The recommended stable version is 8095g-

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch:

1st Option:

1. In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

How to Upgrade a Switch ICX-7150-C12P using a USB flash drive

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

2. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

How to upgrade a Switch ICX7150-C12P via TFTP

3rd Option:

3. In this option we Upgrade the Switch from the Web Interface (GUI) of switch.

Thank you again for your patience.

i like the 3rd option because i'm finally a little bit familiar with the gui, but when i get to the step with the link to download tftp 64, it takes me to this page:

relingburg_0-1678380513228.png

i went ahead and found the download for 8095g, so that's currently downloading and says estimated time left is 45-50 min. i'll come back in 45 min and see how it's going.
