Ruckus 7150 Switch SYST light yellow, stuck in boot mode

Hello,

After power outages, my Ruckus switch stays in boot mode, SYST light is yellow. I was able to connect from my laptop using a USB-C cable and ran the command BOOT_PRIMARY, which shows that it goes to the secondary to actually boot and then works.

I am trying to run the software upgrade per your article:

RUCKUS Forums - How to perform a Software recovery on an ICX7150 s... - CommScope RUCKUS Community F...

However, using a USB-C connection, it does not show up as a Network device, so I do not know how to configure the IP address (Gateway, Server IP, etc) in order to push the image files to the switch. I am able to run off the secondary image so far, but that could become corrupt at some point like the primary and I won't be able to use my switch anymore. Can you provide the steps on how to perform the software update using the USB-C connection, NOT the ethernet connection.

Thank you,

Manuel

Another question I have is why can I not just upgrade using the admin UI? I am logged in, but I am unable to click the update button, its greyed out and always shows "Loading" firmware version but never does anything. I amazed how hard it is to fix this issue, most people could not understand these instructions without some technical background.

Hi @LenRuck2023

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

The UI dashboard on the web browser and Putty CLI you are seeing is of Unleashed and not of the ICX-7150-C12P Switch.

You should see the Switch Dashboard as shown in the below screenshot to confirm it’s a Switch IP Address.

Please check the other IP Addresses from the IP scan results, by the name of Ruckus Wireless or Brocade Communications to confirm the IP address of the Switch and access the CLI.

And please note, we have an Upgrade process from UI as one of the 3 options I shared in my previous post.

Please check and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Hello,

I tried the Console that you showed, and it does not work with any accounts or passwords listed in the article. The 'admin' account does log me into the other console I showed you, but not this Web Management Console. The 'admin' account I have the password for and lets me login into the putty session, but the commands you asked me to run don't work.

No combination of accounts/passwords work here.

Here are the IP Addresses from IP Scan

Using SSH to connect to the 192.168.1.25 address and 'admin' account, the only one that lets me login. The copy command does not work.

What next?

Thank you.

Hi @LenRuck2023

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the detailed information you shared.

The Putty CLI screen you are logged in to is of RUCKUS Unleashed Access Points, NOT the ICX Switch.

Please use Telnet using the IP address shown in the below screenshot. And try to log in on Putty.

Telnet – Port 23 (If SSH doesn’t work)

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

Telnet-ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

I connected to the switch using the telnet port and got the prompt you were looking for. It still does not work.

Putty session, never asks for account/password info, just connects directly flash copy fails:

Should I be copying the .bin file in my upgrade folder?
