Lennar Ruckus connect problem

Baker2289
New Contributor

I'm having a problem with the Ruckus system not "connecting" Here is the specifics.

1) Purchased to home about 3 years ago and they system worked fine for that time.

2) About 2 months ago the city upgraded the main electrical meter. The power was out for about 15 seconds when they replaced it.

3) After the meter was replaced the Ruckus system was very slow to upload - download. Rebooted the system several times with no improvement.

4) Reset the master AP to factory default and recreated the wireless network - no improvement.

5) When performing a speed test more times than not it indicates that the network cannot be found or no internet connection available. AP(s) do show up on the unleashed app. Switch is not shown on the app.

6) Have not reset the switch to factory default.

System is ATT fiber to the ONT and ethernet cat 6 from the ONT to the ATT BG320 router. Ethernet Cat 6 from the modem to the switch.

Any help / advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Baker2289

Thanks for your response.

Factory resetting the switch does not require at this stage. Instead we suggest you to login to the switch by doing password recovery process.

If the given username and password combinations does not work we request you to set up a new password by following the password recovery steps given below.

Short Guide for password recovery :

https://support.purdi.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360016495292-Ruckus-ICX-Password-Recovery-Resetting-a-Sw...

1.Start a CLI session over the serial ( console access) interface to the RUCKUS ICX device.

2-Enter OS mode. This uses a key combination and drops below the fastiron operating system

Key Combination: Ctrl+y, release, tap 'm', tap 'Enter'

OS>

4-just write reset

OS>reset

5-.While the system is booting, before the initial system prompt appears,
enter b to enter the boot monitor mode.

Enter 'b' to stop at boot monitor: 0

In this Part you have to press B before the counter ends

6-Enter no password. (You cannot abbreviate this command.)

ICX7650-Boot> no password
00 00 00 00
OK! Skip password check when the system is up.

7-Enter boot. This command causes the device to bypass the system password
check.

ICX7650-Boot> boot

8-After the console prompt reappears, assign a new password.

device> enabledevice# configure terminal
device(config)# username USERNAME password PASSWORD

Thank you.

Just to be sure, the above instructions do apply using a Mac OS correct?

Hi @Baker2289

For Mac OS to gain access to the switch we need to install drivers to read the type C cable by using the below links.

Software:

Link:https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloadshttps://www.silabs.com...

Link:https://support.ruckuswireless.com/software/1413-brocade-ruckus-7150-usb-serial-driver-mac

Once you have installed the Mac Drivers, open the Mac terminal, when you see the command prompt do the following:

Enter this command:

ls /dev/cu.*

This command will display something like this:

One of those logs will say something similar to /dev/cu.SiLabs_Serial (which is related to the drivers you installed)

Then enter the following command using the name of the installed driver that was displayed:

screen /dev/cu.SiLabs_Serial 9600

4-Hit Enter and you will have access to the ICX7150’s CLI.  (Command Line)

I downloaded and installed the drivers. Mac terminal does not show anything different than before the download. Will not accept any of the commands listed prior to this message. I guess you have to be a computer coder to get that to work...

Only choices are the factory reset of the switch...or replace with another system.

Will the factory reset delete the stored login and passwords so I can assign my own user and password?

Hi @Baker2289

Thanks for your response.

We can replace the device only if you confirm that the hardware is damaged. So please share the screenshot of the error you are getting while trying to console access the switch.

Here is where you can upload the image/photo :

you can also drag it to the chat.

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.
