ICX7150 auto rebooting every 15 minutes or more frequently

We had a brief power outage a few days ago that lasted about 10 minutes. After the power was restored, we started to notice that the WiFi would intermittently drop. At first, I thought it was the Ruckus APs that were causing the WiFi to drop. Last night, I just happened to observe the WiFi drop (AP's were blinking) and I rushed over to observe the Switch. The Switch was rebooting. I camped out and watched the Switch for about 10 to 15 minutes and it rebooted again. This has been driving us crazy. We work remotely and rely on the WiFi.

Hi @On-the-green

Based on the information it seems that your switch is running in an older version (8080d). To avoid any issues in the future, we suggest you Upgrade the switch to a new latest stable version (8095g version).

The recommended stable version is 8095g.

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch:

1st Option:

In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Upgrade-a-Switch-ICX-...

2nd Option:

The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

3rd Option:

I am following this thread. I have been having exactly same issue since yesterday when we had a power outage for 5 mins. Switch keeps rebooting sometimes at 10-15 mins interval and at other times lasts for couple of hours before rebooting.

Hi @On-the-green

Please let us know the LED status of the switch and the access points using the below guide.

Please let us know how many access points are connected to the switch.

Please let us know whether you have upgraded the APs to the newer version or not.

If yes, please check whether the Access points are upgraded to same firmware version or not.

When the Switch is operational the PWR and SYST are green and the two POE ports are also green.

(2) AP R510 are attached

AP1: All lights on the APs are solid green except for AIR. AIR has no light.

AP2: All lights on the APs are solid green except for AIR and CTL. AIR and CTL have no light.

The APs are more than likely on different versions. We had to RMA a R510 last year.

Due to the iOS16 issue not being able to connect to the unleashed.ruckuswireless.com domain, I am not able to confirm the AP versions. The connectivity issue still persists using the IP address.

Hi @On-the-green

For detailed understanding of the issue please follow the below steps and share the output of the below commands.

1- To fix this issue, we must identify the ‘currently’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch

-We can try the IP address that shows in the dashboard copy and paste it in the URL if that redirects you to the login page for the ICX-7150-C12P that is the correct one if not.

I will leave you a guide how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find my Ruckus “Devices IP address” using free applications

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-find-my-Ruckus-Device...

2-Once we identified the IP address of the switch proceed to access remote to the device 'command Line'

How to remotely access to 'ICX 7150-12P' or 'access points' "Network devices"

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-remotely-access-to-IC...

If you can access to the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> or

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

  1. Now please perform the following commands and share the output:

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

Show flash

Show version

Show inline power

Show inline power detail

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.
