Connection issues

daniel_deusterm

We've been having intermittent outages since July '22. Everything on the ISP end is good. Last year we had our switch replaced do to faulty firmware. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the issue is. We lose connection and the equipment power cycles. Connection loss lasts anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more. Some days are fine, other days it won't stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time. Connection loss happens on both wired and wireless.

I don't have that option when I hit reply.

Hi @daniel_deusterm

Ok, for the lines you have shared about the Access Point I can see that are constantly dropping, so the cables are damaged, or the network is constantly dropping, so to diagnostic from the Switch, you need to gain access to the Switch and share the commands I will provide.

last disconnected reason [AP Restart : power cycle]
Last disconnected reason [Heartbeat Loss]

1:Gain access to the Switch via remote(SSH or Telnet) or via console access)

Commands:

enable

show lldp neighbors

show logging

show poe

This next commands is to run a diagnostic in the cable where the Access Points are connected, now the show lldp neighbors will display what port you are connected with Ruckus APs, let me provide an example:

Note: the X will change according to the ports you are testing, in my example the port where the AP is connected is the 1/1/2

show lldp neighbors

phy cable-diag tdr x/x/x

show cable-diagnostics tdr x/x/x

Note: this is the results of a good diagnostic cable.

I cannot log into the switch via putty.

I can enter username but it won't let me enter a password.

Hi @daniel_deusterm

Can you provide the screenshot with the password error?
