ICX7150-C12P -2X1G - No Connectivity to the switch

Jota31

I am not sure what has happened over night other than it rained, but I have a Back-UPS connected to the switch to prevent power outage issues as I had an issue on the switch within the first 6 months due to a power outage.  It is a Lennar home that has the ICX-7150-C12P switch with three R510 APs connected to an AT&T Fiber Modem (BGW320-500).

Internet is connected via C1 port. I have pulled the power on the switch and powered back on but the router is not seeing the switch when I connect to any ports including the C1 and C2 ports. When i connect to the Out-of-band management port (RJ-45) with 2 LEDs, I get connection to the router. What is needed to get my switch and AP connected. I really don't want to reset the switch as it will take a lot of configuration to get it all set back up.

My suspicion is the switch is faulty.

Hello @Jota31 ,

Greetings!

Thank you for sharing the response.

From the response you shared, I understand that the status lights on the Switch is Amber and the PWR light is Green, which means that the Switch is stuck in a boot mode

Please follow the below RUCKUS Lennar Knowledge base self-help article which will help you to fix the issue when the Switch is in boot mode.

Hi @Jota31

Thank you for the response and sharing the pictures.

Before we can help, we need to check which version the Switch is currently running.

Please follow the below steps and help us with the queries,

1.   To check this, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find the IP Address of the RUCKUS Devices (Switch and APs) using IP Scanner free applications:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-find-the-IP-Address-o...

2.   Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Lennar-Support-Knowledge/How-to-access-the-Command-Li...

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

Please share the output of the above commands or share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

I connected via Telnet and logged in but I am not seeing the I

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Instead what I am seeing is ruckus#. I attempted to run the commands provided but I am getting the following error

IMG_8427.jpeg

I am able to access the switch via the correct IP and access it via a browser.

Hello @Jota31 ,

Greetings!

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.

From the response you shared, I understand that you are getting the Ruckus response.

It seems that the Ip address you used to login to the CLI appears to be of Unleashed AP and not of the ICX-7250 Switch.

Once you access the IP address from the IP Scan results, to confirm that the IP address is associated with the Switch, you should observe the Switch Dashboard, which should be visible upon accessing the appropriate IP address, as illustrated in the screenshot below.

I recommend cross-checking the IP addresses listed in the IP scan results under the names "Ruckus Wireless" or "Brocade Communications" to identify the correct IP address of the Switch and proceed to access the CLI accordingly.

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Based on IP Scanner here is what comes up. I only have 4 devices from Ruckus Wireless that show up.

I have tried to using SSH with all 4 IP and get the same results. I was able to log in via COM port and received the following details.
