Did you mean:

"vsz essentials doesnt support multiple interfaces, please configure with one interface then setup again"

hi, I'm trying to setup a demo vSZ on an EXSI server

at the vSZ#

I typed in SETUP, and chose vSZ essential, but came up with this error message

"vsz essentials doesnt support multiple interfaces, please configure with one interface then setup again"

I did notice there are multiple interfaces in "show interface", so I had removed 2 other connection from EXSI, leaving only 1 connected

now show interface only showing 1 control interface , but SETUP would still giving same error message : (

You probably had configured all 3 interfaces on the same subnet, and this can't work at all, therefore services were not coming up.

So go for vSZ-H with 1 interface and if you can, add some 4 GB RAM  at least for time of installation.

When you deploy ova, uncheck option start VM after deployment. When deployed, edit RAM (to max available), HDD (300GB recommended, will work with 100GB too, but will give error message), and delete 2 NICs, and put last NIC on correct network. Than start VM and run setup.

You had to delete 2 interfaces before you started VM the very first time. You can do nothing now, you must deploy ova from scratch. But it is just a few minutes. And it is mentioned in manual...

And as license is the same, I never ever install essential - why should I? vSZ-H has more features, and at least one is important for me -- after you upgrade controller, zones firmware isn't not upgraded automatically, so you can pick different time for AP upgrading. I also don't feel that vSZ-E would use less resources, so don't see any reason to use vSZ-E instead of vSZ-H at all.

Thank you for your fast reply,

In fact, I did install vsz H first. Somehow, no ping to mgmt interface, only ping to main interface.

vsz can ping my laptop and internet fine

Show service, shows web service is down along with some other services. Reboot it few times and waited few hours, no luck.

I thought it was the esxi host: a HP desktop with intel i7 12gb ram 1tb HDD is not able to handle vszH, hence asking for the help 😄

I might try install the vszH again, but thought maybe I am also missing some vital info from the user manual
