Unable to reset switch (ICX-1750) even after console in, continuously asking for password

flyguy22
New Contributor

I am trying to factory reset my switch because my ruckus site does not show the switch as being connected and cannot find the actual switch IP address.

Screenshot 2024-08-28 231226.png

I have tried using all the different password combinations and am consistently getting this, and am unable to enter the command prompt to type enable. Switch keep asking for a ussername and password when I console in and do the boot > no password command and after it runs.

I just want to start an RMA to get a new switch as this point as this has been affecting my work and all.

Hi @flyguy22

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the update.

Could you please try to perform a software recovery on the Switch by referring to the below guide?

Below is the Guide and Video Link to perform the Software recovery process:

Please refer to the below guide and Video link:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-perform-a-Software-re...

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql22blH_CGo

Please note, we must use ethernet cable (both ends RJ45 plugs) and USB to type C cable both together as described in steps 2 & 3 in the guide link.

Please let me know if you are stuck at any point during the software recovery process.

Thank you again for your patience.

Best regards,

Imran Sanadi

RUCKUS Lennar Home Community.

Tried this too, using a USB A to USB C in the ports. Then I even tried the RJ45 Ethernet one too

I get the all the way through booting and then it asks me to enter the password. I tried all the password combinations for sp-user and admin from the guide, nothing will allow me to log in

Hi @flyguy22

Greetings of the day!!!

Thank you for sharing the requested on a private chat.

Based on our troubleshooting efforts, we are unable to reset the username or password on your RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P switch via a console connection. Despite executing the ‘no password’ and ‘boot’ commands, and attempting to use default credentials, the switch continues to prompt for credentials. You also tried to perform the Software recovery on this Switch but were unsuccessful.

Given these persistent issues, we recommend initiating a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for this switch unit, which will involve replacing the unit.

Feel free to contact us via chat, comment you already have a post, copy the link from the post (URL), and paste it into the chat to start the unit replacement.

Please follow the steps as shown in the below example:

As shown in the below picture, copy the link and share it via chat from the link provided:

Did I answer your queries? If yes, hit the Kudos buttons and also accept the answers as Accepted solutions.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
