Ruckus inconsistent WIFI signal

jeff_schultz
New Contributor

ICX 7150-C12P  SN FEK3838ROVZ

I lost power and after power was restored the WIFI signal comes and goes, mostly gone.....  When there is signal, it is strong.

I've tried rebooting multiple times without an improved consistency.  Based on some of the research in the knowledge base, I've include the version and flash output.

Thank you in advance for your help!

One additional note, the update light is blinking yellow.  Don't know if that bit of information is helpful.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi Sofia,

In reviewing our notes, we've going full circle.  If you look back on response of  ‎"02-08-2024 08:53 AM" you can see where I encountered this same error.  Following is the output:

Hello @jeff_schultz

Thank you.

The TFTP to Flash Error - code 5 indicates a connectivity issue between the ICX and your PC. Could you please directly connect your laptop to the switch using an Ethernet cable (plugged into one of the 12 ports on the front)? Then, from the switch's CLI, attempt to ping the IP address of your laptop.
Example command:

ICX7150-C12-Router#ping 192.168.x.x

Additionally, please ensure that the firewall on your laptop is disabled.

Kind regards,

Sofia Gätjens

Hi Sofia,

I've attempted to follow your instructions without success. I will describe what I've done. I disabled my firewall during my tests.

1- I used a network cable RJ-45 to RJ-45 and connected one of the 12 ports.  I was unable to login using ssh or rlogin.  I wasn't successful in executing the ping command from a DOS prompt on my PC.

2- I used the same cable and connected to the admin port and experienced the same results.

3- I used a USB to RJ-45 and connected to the admin port and was able to login using the serial connection.  I wasn't successful executing the ping command in the session connection.

4- I used the USB to USB type C and connected to the new admin port and was able to login using the serial connection.   I wasn't successful executing the ping command in the session connection.

Following is a screen shot of my IP scan and it shows the switch is inactive.  Is this normal?

I am really stuck at this point......  I must be missing something??  Do I need to reset the switch and try from there?  Are you willing to do a remote session to help trouble shoot?

Again,  THANK YOU for your patience and help so far.  Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi @jeff_schultz

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

Could you please try to access the IP address highlighted in the below screenshot and see if it’s an Switch IP address?

You should see the Switch Dashboard as shown in the below screenshot to confirm it’s a Switch IP Address.

Please check and confirm.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
