Ruckus ICX7150 stuck or broken?

AdventC

No power to APs, dont think we had a power surge but it looks like the most possible circumstance.

Ive tried everything, most tutorials are saying to connect via IP, which I cant because when I scan I dont see the switch on the network even though its connected as always.

When I try and connect via serial, I was able to get into CLI but instead of ICX7150-Router> in the command it says ICX7150-Boot> and doesnt allow commands like enable, show inline power, etc. Just allows me to do things like printenv and whatnot.

Tried setting up TCPT server or whatever and cant get it to connect. Heard it was because i needed to factory reset first, and I did the thing where I hold down the reset when plugging in power so it blinks all amber, but it now just blinks amber indefinitely (its been over an hour). Also the Putty says the following while doing that:

Booted from partition 2

For the love of god, help or send me a new one or a technician who can help!

Hi Imran,

The documentation you shared says "ICX devices will be automatically discovered by the Unleashed Master. If automatic switch approval is enabled, all ICX switches discovered on the network will be listed in the Switches dashboard component. To disable automatic approval, go to Admin & Services > System > System Info > Switch Approval and disable the Approval option."

Sorry a bit confused because your post says to enable and reboot. My approval box was already enabled when i just checked. Also, I did already try those commands via telnet but couldnt get it to actually change the username and pw. I still cannot login and I tried those commands yesterday.

What should I do?

Hi @AdventC

Thank you for the response and the information.

If Switch approval is set to enabled already.

Please try to reset your username and password once again as described in my previous post. And please note it will take some time to sync.

Please share the screenshots of the credentials reset commands you performed.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Hi Imran,

It has been over 24 hours since I tried this yesterday. I tried it again just now, please see below:

telnet@ICX7150-C12-Switch>enable
No password has been assigned yet...
telnet@ICX7150-C12-Switch#configure terminal
telnet@ICX7150-C12-Switch(config)#username super password pass
telnet@ICX7150-C12-Switch(config)#crypto key generate rsa

Key already exists. Please zeroize it.
telnet@ICX7150-C12-Switch(config)#aaa authentication login default local

If it isnt supposed to take longer than 24 hours, I think I need another solution. Also, will fixing this fix my Ethernet problem?

Hi @AdventC

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

The only option now to reset the Switch credentials is by getting console access as described below.

Here are the short guides and step-by-step process.

How to console in the ICX-7150-C12P:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-console-in-the-ICX-71...

Short Guide for password recovery:

1. Start a CLI session over the serial (console access) interface to the RUCKUS ICX device.

2. Enter OS mode. This uses a key combination and drops below the Fastron operating system

Key Combination: Ctrl+y, release, tap 'm', tap 'Enter'

OS>

3. Just write reset

OS>reset

4. While the system is booting, before the initial system prompt appears,
enter b to enter the boot monitor mode.

Enter 'b' to stop at boot monitor: 0

In this part, you have to press B before the counter ends

5. Enter no password. (You cannot abbreviate this command.)

ICX7650-Boot> no password
00 00 00 00
OK! Skip password check when the system is up.

6. Enter boot. This command causes the device to bypass the system password
check.
ICX7650-Boot> boot
7. After the console prompt reappears, assign a new password.

Reset your new credentials as mentioned in the steps below:

Edit the current or create a new password and username by using the below commands:

enable

configure terminal

device(config)# username super password pass

Where the username is ’super’ and password ‘pass’
In order to allow the correct authentication please run the following commands:
Device(config)#crypto key generate rsa

device(config)# aaa authentication login default local

Now you could try using your new credentials to log in on CLI. (If new credentials do not work, please wait for some time and try again later)

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
