RMA: ICX7150-C12P reboots every ~10-16 min, cycles PoE to both R510 APs (Lennar)

sdslhouse
New Contributor

Hi - yes, this is a RUCKUS setup in a Lennar home.

EQUIPMENT

Switch: ICX7150-C12-POE, Serial FEK3849Q0XZ

Firmware: SPS08080d, SW Version 08.0.80dT211 (compiled Nov 20 2018)

APs: 2x R510 on ports 1/1/7 and 1/1/9, running Unleashed 200.7

Upstream: AT&T BGW210-700 gateway, flat 192.168.1.0/24

SYMPTOM

The switch repeatedly restarts. Each time, PoE to both AP ports cuts, both R510s reboot, and everything returns after about 3 minutes. Over 39 hours of continuous monitoring this happened roughly every 15 minutes.

This looks like the same failure reported in 'Ruckus ICX-7150-C12P stuck in boot cycle under any load' (08-01-2026) and 'Ruskus system keeps cycling every 15min' (08-02-2026) - same model, same interval, same behaviour of dropping PoE to ceiling APs while other wired devices keep working.

SWITCH LOG - show logging

Jul 13 03:54:26:I:System: Warm start

Jul 13 03:54:28:I:PKI: Trustpoint DEVICE_TRUSTPNT: error: File not loaded, Manufacturing certificate expired.

The manufacturing certificate on this unit has EXPIRED. The log buffer only ever spans about 90 seconds because the unit resets and clears it.

It also repeats a TFTP config fetch every ~16 seconds continuously:

Jul 13 03:54:54:D:DHCPC: sending TFTP request for bootfile name ICX7150-C12-Switchc0c5.2094.f9a3-config.cfg

(repeats at 03:55:10, 03:55:26, 03:55:42, 03:55:58 ...)

The switch's own log records both AP ports dropping and returning together:

Jul 13 03:55:33:I:System: Interface ethernet 1/1/7, state down

Jul 13 03:55:35:I:System: Interface ethernet 1/1/9, state down

Jul 13 03:55:57:I:System: Interface ethernet 1/1/7, state up

Jul 13 03:55:59:I:System: Interface ethernet 1/1/9, state up

show version captured seconds after one reset:

STACKID 1  system uptime is 1 minute(s) 2 second(s)

The system : started=warm start   reloaded=by reload

NOT A POWER BUDGET ISSUE - show inline power

Power Capacity: Total 124000 mWatts, Current Free 93200 mWatts

1/1/7  On  On  1800 mW consumed / 15400 allocated  802.3af Class 3

1/1/9  On  On  2100 mW consumed / 15400 allocated  802.3af Class 3

The two R510s draw 3900 mW combined against a 124000 mW budget.

MONITORING DATA (ICMP every 20-35s, 4151 samples over 39 hours)

- Switch management IP unreachable in 23.3 percent of samples (72 separate outages)

- Both APs down together, starting at the IDENTICAL second, in 20 of 22 events during one 5.7-hour window

- The two APs are in different rooms on different cable runs

- A non-PoE wired device on the same switch stayed reachable through 8 of 9 consecutive AP outages, so the switching ASIC keeps forwarding while PoE drops

- Upstream AT&T gateway during the same 39 hours: 2 outages, 0.1 percent downtime

RULED OUT

- Not router mode: telnet prompt reads telnet@ICX7150-C12 Switch>

- No power outage before onset: the AT&T gateway in the same wall cabinet showed 194 days uptime, continuous since about 2026-01-18

- Not heat: cabinet door left fully open for 5 hours, no change in outage rate

- Not the ISP, and not the APs (two independent APs cannot fail and recover at the same second on their own)

CURRENT STATE - reporting this honestly

At 2026-08-02 07:20 one AP (port 1/1/9) went offline and has stayed offline. From 07:31 onward the switch has been completely stable for over 8 hours, zero outages. That is consistent with the other homeowner's report that the unit crashes under any load: with one less powered device the resets stopped. I have not changed anything else.

REQUEST

Given the ICX7150 is covered by the RUCKUS Assurance Limited Lifetime Warranty, and given the expired manufacturing certificate, I am requesting an RMA / advance replacement for this switch (Serial FEK3849Q0XZ).

Happy to provide photos or further CLI output.

Thank you.

Hello

Greetings!

Thank you for sharing the requested information.

Based on the troubleshooting performed, your ICX-7150-C12P Switch is not responding properly, and the Software Recovery process has been unsuccessful. A hard reset was also attempted; however, the issue still persists.

As a result, this Switch unit appears to be defective and needs to be replaced through the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process.

To initiate the replacement, Please use the private chat option to respond so we can proceed further. For your reference, I have included a screenshot below.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

@Sgatjens, have you consulted your engineering team yet? This appears to be a software bug specifically affecting ICX-7150-C12P units. Sending replacement switches to all impacted users feels like an uncoordinated response, especially given that everyone is encountering the exact same issue. Could you please check with your software team to see if a recent rollout or update triggered this? Ruckus’s current response time, communication, and root-cause analysis on this are falling short. This is a critical issue causing major disruption for active users—please escalate and expedite this immediately.

Hi @mfalam84

Lennar Homes clients have a different support process, which is why we initially perform only basic troubleshooting.

Based on the logs you shared, the ICX7150 is not running the minimum recommended software version, 10.0.10g_cd6. Additionally, the reported issue has already been addressed in software version 08.0.95ba under Defect ID FI-274391, as documented in our release notes.

If you encounter a defect while running the latest recommended software version and have an Enterprise Support account, you can open a support case through our support portal for further investigation.
