Connection setup of eero pro 7 to Lennar home Ruckus wireless access point

Connection setup of eero pro 7 to Lennar home I have the regular setup of internet that came with my house. Frontier upgraded my internet speed and sent me a eero Pro 7. The eero only has two ports. My previous modem/router has two cables in the ethernet ports and one plugged into a port labeled ONT broadband. Where do I connect these cables on the new eero pro 7?

Hi Smikell731,

Thank you for your post.

Based on the information available from Eero, both network ports on the Eero Pro 7 work the same way, so you can connect your ICX7150 switch to either port.

To my understanding Eero will not replace the old modem/router but instead will enhance the signal it gets from the modem router.

I recommend connecting them as follows:

  • Modem/router ->port 1 of Eero.
  • Port 2 of Eero -> any of the 12 ports on ICX7150-c12p switch
  • Wireless Ruckus Access points -> any of the 12 ports on ICX7150-c12p switch

The Eero Pro 7 includes built-in Wi‑Fi. Lennar homes also typically include separate Ruckus wireless access points that provide Wi‑Fi coverage throughout the home.

You can choose either option:

  • Use the Ruckus access points for your home's Wi‑Fi and use the switch to connect additional wired devices.
  • Use the Eero's Wi‑Fi only and keep the switch primarily to provide extra Ethernet ports for wired devices, since the Eero has limited wired connections available.

The choice depends on which Wi‑Fi solution works best for your needs.

Please let me know if this is helpful and if you have any other questions.

Also this resource may help:

Can I use eero with my current ISP or modem?

Thanks.
