Configuring a VLAN on a RUKUS Switch

neil_hetzel

I would like to set up some VLANs but I've never done that before. I have a RUCKUS ICX 7150-C12P and have access to the switch's interface via browser. I was hoping someone might be able to to point me toward some documentation or video(s) to help me set this up.

Hi @neil_hetzel

Greetings of the day,

Could you please let us know whether you are trying to create a SSID or VLAN?

If you wanted to create a VLAN please follow the below link.

https://docs.commscope.com/en-US/bundle/fastiron-09010-webguide/page/GUID-9BCCD97C-25CE-49E8-B4C8-38...

Also please let us know the reason for setting up new VLAN.

Best regards,

Hi Jayavidhya,

Yes, I want to create a VLAN and not an SSID.  Thank you for the link.  The web interface I see doesn't look like that though. Do I need to upgrade whatever version I have on my 7150-C12?

Here's a bit more detail with screen shots to help.  If I log into the web interface I see a tree structure on the left and details on the right. If I navigate down and click on "Port" under VLAN

I am presented with the following on the right

Clicking on the word 'system' I am then presented with the following:

Hi @neil_hetzel

Thanks for your information.

To check the version the upgrade the switch please follow the below steps.

1: Type “CMD” from start button and open:

2: Run the Following command: "arp -a", now you can see the IP or internet address of the switch, and the physical address, however you need to know the physical address that can be located on a sticker in the Switch, so you can do the match with the information displayed in the CMD.

3: Now you know the IP or internet address, let's download the free Application that will allow you to gain the remote access.

Visit: https://putty.org/

4: Now open the putty application and enter the information inside the IP field, and choose between SSH or Telnet access, please test both options because the SSH access is not always active by default, but Telnet must work.

SSH:

 Telnet:

5: Access: whichever option you are using, if it asks for a password, enter the following, the enable command allows you to execute more commands to check the switch.

User:  “super”

Password: “sp-admin”

“Show version”                 (check current version)

Could you please sent us the following commands ( entire )

Enable

Show version

Show flash
