AP's not Working After Power Outage

Kevin2
New Contributor

I had a power outage and (as usual) the wireless network went down. I have checked the switch and it is showing green power and sys lights and the directly connected items (ring doorbell, kevo, etc) are working but the AP's have no lights on them at all. I have rebooted multiple times following the instructions throughout the forum and still the same issue. I tried to get access via USB-C/USB console cable, but the connection never gave me a prompt. Attempted to connect via the IP found in the advanced ip scanner and none of the admin passwords listed in the forum worked to connect. I believe there is no PoE going to the AP's. Any help?

Hi @Kevin2

Greetings of the day,

Based  on your description it seems that on your ICX-7150-C12P Switch, the SYST and PWR lights are steady green, which means the lights are in a normal state.

Since the switch is in the normal state you can take Console access to the switch in order to verify, if the switch is able to transfer the power to PoE devices via 12 ports.

To check this, first, we have to get access to the switch, and there are Two ways to get access to the switch.

  1. I) By IP Address of the Switch OR
  2. II) By Console Access to the Switch

  1. By IP address: To fix this issue, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned by your local router to the switch ICX-7150-C12P

I will leave you a guide on how to perform an IP scanner on your local network to identify the switch IP address very easily.

How to find my Ruckus “Devices IP address” using free applications:

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-find-my-Ruckus-Device...

Once we identify the IP address of the switch proceed to access remotely to the device “Command Line”

How to remotely access to 'ICX 7150-C12P' or 'access points' "Network devices":

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-remotely-access-to-IC...

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router>

  1. Now please perform the following commands and share the output:

enable

Show version

Show inline power

Show inline power detail

  1. By Console access: If access via IP address is not possible here is a guide on how to access to the Switch via console (cable access between your PC to the ICX 7150-C12P) in this case we need a USB type C to USB standard or Console cable Rj45 to USB.

How to console in the ICX-7150-C12P

https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-console-in-the-ICX-71...

Once you are logged in to the ICX-7150-C12P please follow up the same steps that are on point '2'

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Best regards,

Jayavidhya

Hi @Kevin2

Thanks for the details provided

As per the information you have shared, it seems that the PoE is disabled, so will be matter to enable it back. Once you have enabled it please try to upgrade the switch to the code 08095g, let me add the steps to enable back PoE and save the changes.

Enabling PoE:

Lennar#configure terminal
Lennar(config)#interface ethernet 1/1/1 to 1/1/12
Lennar(config-mif-1/1/1-1/1/12)#inline power
Lennar(config-mif-1/1/1-1/1/12)#write memory
Lennar(config-mif-1/1/1-1/1/12)#show inline power

Here you can see that the admin state is on, because I have enabled it back.

Here are two options to perform the upgrade to the recommended code 08095, take in consideration that like you are in an old code, the upgrade must be done twice from where you are 08061 to 08080f then from 08080f to 08095 UFI, and you will always use the image that start with SPS.

AP's are now connected and showing link lights. I will have to wait a few days before the upgrade.
