Hello,
This is a NOS switch that I just purchased. I updated the FW using the configuration file (in 08030h, so FI08030h_Manifest.txt) through the console. All went well and I reset the switch. Problems started when I moved the switch from the bench to the rack. The above message shows up in the console, and it starts during boot (after the kernel has loaded). The error is preceded by stack messages.

This goes on and on in the console. I can stop the messages for a couple seconds (for logging in, for example), but they will come back after a few seconds.
The same error is shown in the web monitor, under Monitor -> Device. It shows up beside "Role"
In addition, some hw monitoring information seems to be no longer available (i.e. board temperature is not there, but fan presence shows up).
The switch appears to be working OK aside from this.
I tried booting with the secondary FW (i.e. original version, 08.0.10BT313(ICX64R08010m.bin)) and the same messages show up.
What do you suggest the best approach would be at this point?
Thanks,
Eloi

Hi Eloi,
Pls upgrade the switch to the latest 8030u patch as some known issues are covered there, If the issue persist pls open a tac case for further debugging to arrive at a rootcause.

Hello Jijo,
Just updated the fw to 08030u.
Same issue occurs and I was able to notice the following messages at boot:
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Unable to select to bank 0 of HWM
Read hw monitor register value fail

Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Read hw monitor register value fail
Unable to configure hw monitor
Unable to select bank 0 of HWN
Then it boots fine and the previous messages show up again.
I'll open a tac case.
Cheers!

Hello,
I have created a tac case but it was dismissed because the switch was not purchased through a "verified" reseller. I will contact the seller to try to resolve the issue with them.
In the interim, I was able to get the 1 second system load to drop from 99 to 1 by maxxing out the hw poll time (to 65535), so the switch is usable again (was a bit laggy with >20 ports under normal load during testing). This also means that it's running without any hw monitoring, so I guess it will not shut down if it overheats but it should not be an issue considering the current installation.
Best regards,
Eloi

Hi Eloi,
This is hardware error.
So this has to be RMAed.
Please tell your vendor to replace the switch or refund the money. Ebay does have money back guarantee as well.
Best to return to the vendor and buy directly from us so you have the full Warranty and we honor all our products, better to steer clear of ebay vendors.
Have a Great Day.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best Regards
