Hope you're well.
We've noticed a very strange behaviour in our ICX7450. We got a very high CPU usage but didn't ffind anything that justify it. This only occurs with CPU0. CPU1 is working fine as you can see below.
SSH@SPCRDC2ITA001#sh cpu-utilization
cpu0:
7 percent busy, from 4 sec ago
1 sec avg: 99 percent busy
5 sec avg: 8 percent busy
60 sec avg: 9 percent busy
300 sec avg: 7 percent busy
cpu1:
0 percent busy, from 2 sec ago
1 sec avg: 0 percent busy
5 sec avg: 0 percent busy
60 sec avg: 0 percent busy
300 sec avg: 0 percent busy
==========================
SSH@SPCRDC2ITA001#sh cpu-utilization tasks
top - 16:57:11 up 160 days, 13:54, 0 users, load average: 4.18, 4.02, 3.97
Threads: 163 total, 2 running, 161 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
%Cpu0 : 87.0/12.3 99[||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ]
%Cpu1 : 0.0/0.0 0[ ]
GiB Mem : 22.8/1.951 [ ]
GiB Swap: 0.0/0.000 [ ]
The proccess that seems to be offendig this device is
1590 root 21 1 670.6m 369.9m 85.0 18.5 164688:55 R `- appl
So, there is a way to restart just this process or something like that? Do you know what is the cause of this usage for this task?
We are trying to avoid a device restart in this case.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Marcelo

Hey Marcelo,
I would advise opening a support case so we can troubleshoot what is hitting the CPU. I would not worry about appl in show cpu task. The generic fastiron process correlates with appl and generally shows as almost all of the usage there.

Our architecture uses Broadcom SoCs and all execution run in cpu0 hence the cpu1 is zero, This is expected.Pls open a tac case for debugging the high cpu.
Thanks
