ICX 7450 40Gig Stacking/Uplinks not possible

Hello Ruckus Pack,

I have four 7450 Switches with two 1Port 40Gig Modules installed in the rear slots.
I want to build a stack with all 4 Switches. But when I stack connect them (via 0.5m QSFP+ passive DAC Cable) some ports of the switches are not coming online. the modules and also the cables are being recognised but the port stays down.
I tried it with the FI08095k firmware - then upgraded to the FI09010h_cd2 version. Same problem. Some ports just don't want to come online.

I tried new cables, new modules, completely flashing the switch, reconfiguring it and so on. Nothing helps.

I now have seen that there are installed two of the RPS15-E PowerSupplys
Do I need the RPS16-E with more power to use 3 Modules?

Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
Thank you 🙂

Hi,

after a long time with the support I got all (4) switches replaced.
With the new switches the problem is gone. Now my stack is working fine.

So for me the problem was the really in the switch not in the modules or cables.

Hi Ben,
as Im still troubleshooting I found that my ports going to state blocking.
I want to do a 40 gig ring stack with the four switches. - and have them cabled like that...

When I want to build the stack I get the infos that the ports need to be online? But how?
I disabled STP on the stacking ports but had no luck
What am I missing?

'Blocking' is a layer 2 status and is irrelevant if the port is down at layer 1, so I would not worry about seeing that status. Is the port defined as a stack port (first part of 'show run')? Are you using stacking interactive setup to stack?

It may be easier to open a support case and have us troubleshoot with you.

Hi Ben,

just for your info: I tried building the stack with the 10Gig Ports - no Problems. Works like a charm.
I have an open ticket, if the hardware is the problem. We will see.

Thanks for your help
