ICX 7150-24P Stacking Port not staying linked

I am trying to get 3 - 7150-24P stacked over a long distance on top of a Ciena 5171 10G transport system and getting the stacking ports are coming up and then go down right away. When they are up, the error is "Port is up in IEEE Mode, not HiGig Mode."

What type of protocols does the ICX 7150-24p running firmware version 08.0.95n use to make the stack connection?

Any help with getting this stack running over this long distance transport system would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ChadSchonr

Thank you for reaching us

Could you help me with below details

  • What is the distance between the two switches ?
  • Also could you help me with output of below details
    • show int br | inc <port number>
    • show media validation
    • show media eth <port number>
    • show logging | inc <port number>

Thanks

The distance between the switches is like 160Km.  That is why we are using the Ciena 5171 transport system that is connected via a 100GB ring and provides a 10GB connection to each switch.

Below is the output of those commands:

Ring-7150-24P-Stack#show int br | inc <port number>
Ring-7150-24P-Stack#show int br | inc e 1/3/1 e 1/3/3
Ring-7150-24P-Stack#sh media validation

Debug: Oct 17 13:25:21 If you want to replace with this unit, please do "erase startup-config" and "reload" without saving configuration. The other option is to run interactive-setup option 3 on the active controller unit.

Instead of stacking would Metro Ring and Virtual Switch Redundancy Protocol or Mulit-Chassis Trunking work better. We need to make sure that the MAC tables are the same on both switches, cause our Firewalls use VRRP to get the virtual IP addresses to show on either firewall based on which one is Active in an Active/Passive setup.

Thanks for the help,
