Force sync ntp

nbctcp
New Contributor III

HW: ICX7150
SW: Version 08.0.90dT211

CONFIG:
ntp
master
peer pool.ntp.org
clock timezone gmt GMT+07

GOALS
1. icx become ntp client of pool.ntp.org
2. icx become master ntp for other devices

PROBLEMS:
1. I purposely set wrong time in local clock
after several minutes, it didn't correct itself

#sh ntp status
Clock is unsynchronized, no reference clock
NTP server mode is enabled, NTP client mode is enabled
NTP master mode is enabled, NTP master stratum is 8
NTP is not in panic mode

QUESTIONS:
1. how to set icx so that it periodically check correct time from peer. maybe once a day

2. how to force icx to sync time from peer

tq

I do not believe either request is currently an option. Please see the following note from our management guide:

NTP services are disabled on all interfaces by default.

Before you begin to configure NTP, you must use the clock set command to set the time on your device to within 1000 seconds of the coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

You could open an RFE (request for enhancement) with your account team to have things considered for future code releases.
