Having unleashed AP on network pulls in AP already on controller?

We were trying to repurpose an old R710 to be a standalone at small location as unleashed. It was previously managed by our ZD1200 controller. While it was on the network it seemed to pull in several of our R550 that were configured to the ZD1200. All got a configuration update request failed message on controller and some I could see were renamed on switch to RUCKUS-Unleashed. We took the R710 offline and power cycled the R550 and it seemed fine. I am concerned that they switched over to Unleashed without any input. Shouldn't they stay with ZD1200?

Hi Brian,

If you want to deploy an AP as an unleash AP. Disconnect the AP from the controller and factory reset. Once factory reset it upload the unleash version firmware in the AP so that it will work as unleash AP and it will not join the controller again.

Kindly click the following link to download the unleash firmware version for R710 : https://support.ruckuswireless.com/software/3528-ruckus-unleashed-ap-200-13-ga-software-for-r710

Note : refer release notes before upgrade also the upgrade path in it.

You can upgrade AP through CLI using TFTP : https://support.ruckuswireless.com/articles/000001551
