About ZD3050 and ZD300 difference

Hi,

I would like download the latest firmware for our ZD:

-------

System Overview:
  Name= wlc
  IP Address= ip.add.re.ss
  MAC Address= 74:3E:2B:xxxxx
  Uptime= 87d 18h 15m
  Model= ZD3050
  Licensed APs= 75
  Serial Number= 501736000057
  Version= 10.2.1.0 build 183

-------

I cannot find any ZD3050 firmware.

On the other hand, our current firmware seems to be the same as ZD3000.

I would like to know if I can download and use below firmware for our ZD3050:

<zd3k_10.2.1.0.212.ap_10.2.1.0.212.img>

Also, I would like to know why my model is supposed to be ZD3050,

when the firmware name is ZD3000.

TIA,

Hi Fred,

Your ZoneDirector is a model 3000.  The last two digits were used to determine how many AP licenses that particular unit shipped with. Eg.:

3025 (released later) = 25 AP licenses

3050 = 50 AP licenses

3250 = 250 AP licenses

And so on.

All ZD3000 hardware is the same and runs the same firmware, regardless of how many AP licenses it shipped with.  So the version 10.2.1.0.212 you've mentioned above should be fine.  Make sure you do a configuration backup before you upgrade.

I hope that helps,
Darrel.

Hi Darrel,

Thanks a lot!

Understood.

Well noted.

Again thanks a lot for your quick answer.

I believe the ZD3k were shipped with 50 AP license by default, so you'll always see at least something like 3050.  But yes, as Darrel mentioned below, you seem to just have that default license.  If you were able to add more the value would change to whatever total valid license count you had installed.
