How can I migrate APs managed by a remote SMARTZONE to another SMARTZONE on the same LAN network?

We have 300 APs managed by a Virtual SMARTZONE controller supported on AWS in version 5.2.2.0.317 (this controller is published on the internet).

We need to migrate the 300 Aps to a new Virtual SMARTZONE controller in version 6 that has been installed the LAN network.

The APs are configured with a static IPV4 address.

How can the migration be done?

Hello,

AP cli script can be used in this case (by zones), please log a case with support and they will check with you on that.

Thank you.

Hi Yedinson,

As explained by Dickson, you can use AP CLI script and point the APs to new controller IP. However, there is another way to achieve this.

  1. Upgrade your vSZ current vSZ to 6.0.
  2. Join your other new controller to existing vSZ as a new cluster node.
  3. Once cluster is formed, all the APs will have the info of both the nodes and even  you can update the AP firmware as well.
  4. Shut down the AWS vSZ node.

This is only possible if your both vSZs can talk to each other and also accessible from APs.

You can also use the Switchover Clusters features to move AP from one Smartzone cluster to another.

Accessible on the 'MORE' menu when selected an AP, Switch Over Clusters then enter the IP of the new controller you want the AP to belong to.
