Upgrade R510 APs to a newer AP

I would like to upgrade the wireless infrastructure. I currently have R510 APs and would like to upgrade them to newer technology. I reached out to Ruckus and was advised to ask the question in this forum.

I recently upgraded my network from R510 to R710 APs. The most difficulty I have experienced is the ceiling mounting part. Hole mount on the R710 are just a bit smaller than the R510. Also, I found that the R710 have different power requirements. Other than that, upgrade was smooth after upgrading the R710 to the unleashed software

Thank you Rosewood72. I really appreciate the information. Where did you purchase the R710 APs and what type of bracket did you utilize for mounting? Did you have to change your switch as well or just the AP’s. I ask because Lennar had me reach out to Amazon for the configuration of the wireless infrastructure when I bought the home. I feel I can upgrade the devices myself.

You can purchase the 710 either Amazon or Ebay. Sadly it did not come with a ceiling mount. Just like my 510's, they mount directly on the ceiling using existing holes

If you have an Ruckus ICX switch, it will provide the power but will max out two 2 710s. I have 3 so i used another POE switch but it's not as good as the Ruckus switch so my other 710 is under powered
