New ISP-Ruckus Wifi stopped working

ruckus_houston
New Contributor

Hello,

I switched to a new ISP [fiber optic] and my Ruckus system Wi-Fi is stopped working.

Here is the setup:

Fiber Optic cable-->Modem-->Wifi Router-->Ruckus Swtich [port#11]-->4 Ruckus APs

Setup in bold above is new. Modem and WiFi router is provided by the ISP.

When I connect my laptop via a LAN cable to Ruckus Switch [and turn laptop's WiFi off] I can access internet; there by leading me to conclude that Rucks Switch is getting internet; but there is not Wi-Fi internet connectivity.

Hi @ruckus_houston

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

The dashboard you are seeing on the web browser is of Unleashed and not of the ICX-7150-C12P Switch.

You should see the Switch Dashboard as shown in the below screenshot to confirm it’s a Switch IP Address.

Please check the other IP Addresses from the IP scan results, by the name of Ruckus Wireless or Brocade Communications to confirm the IP address of the Switch and access the CLI.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding

Hello Imran,

I connected my laptop to Ruckus Switch via a LAN/ethernet cable and ran IP scan tool, it showed following Ruckus manufactured devices.

ruckus_houston_0-1691110827758.png

1. IP 192.168.40.83 on Firefox forwarded me to https://192.168.40.152/admin/log, which is Unleashed dashboard. Chrome this site did not load

2. 192.168.49.158 on Firefox also forwarded me to the same Unleashed login screen; it too did not load on Chrome.

3. 192.168.40.198 on Firefox also forwarded me to the same Unleashed login screen; it too did not load on Chrome.

Hi @ruckus_houston

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the information you shared.

Please reboot (disconnect from the power outlet and connect back) and run the IP scan once again as RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P is showing offline in the result.

And please download the Putty Application and try to log in to the CLI using the Switch IP Address from the IP Scan (ICX7150-C12-Router.lan) and share the output of the below commands.

Putty download link:https://www.putty.org/

You could try the SSH Or Telnet option to log in to CLI (Putty) as described in the same guide- Please refer below

SSH- Port 22

OR

Telnet – Port 23 (If SSH doesn’t work)

If you can access the Command line should look like this:

ICX7150-C12 Router> OR

ICX7150-C12 Switch>

Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI and share the output.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

show flash

Please share the output of the above commands or share the screenshots if stuck at any step or error (if any) and let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Hi @ruckus_houston

Greetings!!!

Thank you for the response and the information you shared.

This issue is because your switch is running on the Routing code (SPR). The Switch should run on the Switching code (SPS) to avoid these issues for Lennar home users. Due to a power outage/power spike, the Switch boots up on the other partition which may be running on a ‘Routing Code’ results in causing this issue.

As I can see from the output you shared, your Switch is booted up on the secondary partition which is running on Routing code (SPR) as highlighted in the below screenshot.

Please Enter the below commands in CLI to fix this issue:

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

copy flash flash secondary

boot system flash secondary yes

Example:

VIDEO LINK AS REFERENCEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eem1IBgYaWc

ICX7150-24P Router>enable (hit enter to accept the command)
ICX7150-24P Router#copy flash flash secondary (hit enter to accept the command and wait: until the flash finished)
ICX7150-24P Router#boot system flash secondary yes (hit enter to accept the command: the switch will reboot)

To avoid these issues in the future, I would like to suggest upgrading your Switch to the latest stable version, as your current Switch is on the old version which is SPS08080d. Please let me know once you are done with the above process, to assist you with the upgrading of the Switch.

Please let me know if you have any queries in this regard.

NOTE: Please feel free to mark the post as ACCEPTED SOLUTIONS.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
