ICX 7150-C12P Not Working

ed_realce

A few days ago, I could not connect to the internet. All LEDs on the APs were green. So, I tried to power cycle the switch. When I did that, all lights on the APs were off and the only LEDs on the switch were a green power and an amber syst LED.

So, I do a Google search for Ruckus Lennar Support. I see on the forums that several people are having similar issues.

I try the first proposed solution,

1. Please try to disconnect from the Power outlet the ICX-7150 and reconnect.

2. Please try to press the reset button using a paper click or a small stick

  • Remove power from the switch.
  • Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  • After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

I still got the amber SYST LED. So I try again as mentioned (10-15 times). On the 4th try, the LEDs keep blinking, even after twenty minutes. So I disconnect the power and reconnect to get back to the green power and amber SYST LEDs.

Then I try to connect to the USB Type C Console port to try and check the firmware per the instructions also provided in these forums. But when I connect via USB Type C, it shows up under Other Devices as "CP2104 USB to UART Bridge Controller" instead of under Ports as a Communication Port. So I cannot find the port (COMM#).

Is my network switch dead?

Thank you,
Ed

Hi @ed_realce

Greetings of the day,

Thanks for your response.

If the resetting process doesn't work, we need to perform a software recovery. Here is the quick guide to perform software recovery.

How to perform a Software recovery on an ICX7150 switch

Ruckus ICX Recovery Load boot code from boot monitor

Note: after fixing the issue of the Switch been stuck in boot mode, please perform an upgrade to the code 08095g UFI and upgrade both partitions with the switching code file named SPS08095gufi.bin, so perform the software recovery using the code 08090k with the upgrade image file named SPS08090k.bin, then when the switch is back to normal upgrade to the file SPS08095gufi.bin for both partitions primary and secondary.

Please read entire post. I am unable to get the COM number. The switch is not showing in the Device Manager as a Port.

Hi @ed_realce

To solve this issue please follow the below steps.

Please Install the driver for windows to recognize the USB connections of the devices.

https://support.ruckuswireless.com/software/1414-brocade-ruckus-7150-usb-serial-driver-windows

Once you are done with the process please try to reboot the devices (Laptop/PC).

Then please try to factory reset the ICX 7150 Switch using the below steps.

  1. Remove power from the switch.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
  3. After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.

When all the system LEDs blink green, all the configuration data are erased and the switch is returned to its factory configuration. When all the system LEDs are solid green, the erase process is complete and the system reloads. Once reloaded and the SYST LED is steady green, the factory reset is complete.

Once you are done with the above process please try to reconnect the console cable between the computer and the Switch and check whether you are able to find the COM port number or not.

If the issue persists please share the image of the switch and the devices( Laptop/PC) showing cable connections.

Best regards,

Hello,

I have followed all of the steps for the Software recovery up until the 'update_primary' command.

After I input that command, I get a message, "Retry count exceeded; starting again"

What do I do from here?
