ICX 7850 breakout port to 10G

ataylor

Hi,

I have configured an interface on a ICX 7850 as a breakout port. However, when I attempt to statically set the subports speeds, I receive an error message that there is an optics/speed mismatch and that a 4x10 QFSP transceiver needs to be inserted.

I read the list for supported transceivers and cables and had my management purchase a transceiver listed. I have provided the output of the show media validation command as well as the error message. According to all the CommScope and Ruckus documentation, I should not have an issue changing the port speed.

SSH@ICX7850-32Q-ASLAN-DISTRO-1#show media valid

Hi Ataylor

Ack and Noted. Thanks for reverting back to us.

From the details you posted below

1/1/8:1 Yes OTHERS Type : 40GE-SR4 150m (QSFP+)
1/1/8:2 Yes OTHERS Type : 40GE-SR4 150m (QSFP+)
1/1/8:3 Yes OTHERS Type : 40GE-SR4 150m (QSFP+)
1/1/8:4 Yes OTHERS Type : 40GE-SR4 150m (QSFP+)

In supported column it says " Yes " but in vendor details it says "Others" . I suppose this could be as you are using 3rd party Breakout cable.

It is recommended to use Ruckus Breakout cables with the devices as other vendor products we would not be sure on the working side.

If you still have more concerns with regard to the breakout cable you are using with the ICX device please feel free to log a case with us using the below link so that we can help you out.

I am going to have to close this thread. We had a Ruckus rep conduct a site visit and he was unable to get the ports to successfully operate in breakout mode either. The Ruckus rep used Ruckus transceivers and breakout cables and is escalating the issue to production.

I am unsure of who to contact to close this thread as unsolved but it will be a while until a solution is found. Thank you all for your input.
