Hello,
Purchased an 8200 24P, I am a bit confused, both primary and secondary are RDR, how do I flash an RDS onto the primary as like in the 7150's?
Thank you

Switching image was deprecated with 10.0 and each platform will only use one image starting with 10.0. Switching features are still available in the routing image. Hope this helps!

That is what I traditionally do with my layer 3 switches, though we are using ospf with the added license for routers. This seems to be a major shift minus some good shifting documentation.

It is a bit of a shift. The idea is take the confusion out of having multiple images for each platform and also unifies syntax instead of having different ways to address a box. I think it will be a good change in the long run! Layer 2 features are still available in the routing image.

It still seems like an icx router. If I want the 8200 to be an edge device already attached to a router that has vlan 100 and ve 100 associated with it can I set up the 8200 with a ve 100 also and assign it a unique IP associated with the routers ve 100? It already sounds confusing. I've always had unique VEs on my routers.

You do not need a VE in every vlan that the switch is going to pass traffic for. You can have a vlan be purely layer 2 if you would like. If your 8200 deployment is strictly layer 2, the one address you do assign to it is strictly for manageability purposes. The global IP address in prior layer 2 code actually exists within some vlan (or is actually out of band on the mgmt port). The end result is the same, but it does take some getting used to! If you are having any issues with it, please open a case (see my signature) and we can help you out!
