Our Zone Director 1200 failed, can i replace the ZD1200 and have it re-provision our 3 access points without physically resetting the access points themselves?

LED is just flashing red no matter how many resets or power cycles we do, can't get into web interface at all.  Customer does not have a backup file handy unfortunately.

Hi Tery,

Could you confirm the status of the LED on the controller?

It is important to determine the version of the existing faulty ZD1200 controller. Once you have that information, you can proceed with the replacement, upgrade the new ZD1200 to the same version, restore the configuration backup from old controller, transfer the licenses from the old controller to the new one, and continue managing the APs as usual.

Have you collected a configuration backup from the existing ZD1200?

Hi Tery,

Good Day!

If the controller's LED status is flashing RED, it is faulty. If you know the ZD log-in credentials, you can use the same to log in to the AP to determine what version it is on:

get version >> Execute this command from the CLI session of the AP and upgrade the new controller to the same version.

Unfortunately, you have to configure the ZD1200 network settings and the WLANs from scratch.

Let me know if you have any further queries.

Vignesh
