Zebra Android WT6400 causing Kernel Panic restarts on Ruckus Unleashed R510 and R610 APS

Has anyone ran into issues with Zebra Android WT6400's causing Kernel Panic restarts on Ruckus Unleashed R510 and R610 APs.

We recently added these wearable units into our warehousing environment (only 2 units out of a total of 16 units) and they seem to intermittently cause the ap they are connected to reboot with Unleashed stating the AP had a kernel panic. Anyone have any ideas or something similiar happen?

We aren't up to the date on the latest firmware. I believe we are on 200.8 and I'm going to attempt to update over the weekend.

Dear Kjstaats

Greetings.

Thank you for reporting the issue with Zebra WT6400 devices causing AP reboots on your Unleashed network.

Based on your description, the behavior where APs  reboot with a kernel panic when specific client devices connect is typically related to software stability rather than hardware faults.

Key Points:

  • Kernel panic events are generally triggered by software/driver issues on the AP side
  • You are currently running Unleashed 200.8, which is relatively old and does not include several stability fixes present in later releases
  • The fact that only 2 WT6400 units trigger the issue strongly indicates a client-triggered software condition

Recommendation:

  • Upgrade the Unleashed firmware to the latest recommended version (for example 200.17 or later)
  • Ensure all APs are on the same firmware version
  • After upgrade, monitor if the kernel panic reboots persist

If the Issue Continues:

Create a case via Ruckus support portal

  • Collect AP support logs immediately after a reboot
  • Note which AP the Zebra device was connected to at the time
  • Share Zebra device OS version and Wi-Fi settings

Please let us know if you need assistance with firmware upgrade planning or log collection.

Hi @kjstaats,

We have not seen an AP crash with kernel panic due to Zebra Android devices.
However, we would need to look into the crash signature to understand the issue, so opening the TAC case would be very helpful to investigate the issue further.

Also, 200.15 is the last supported version for R610 and R510. So it would be great if you could upgrade the APs to the 200.15 and check once before raising a case.
