R710 Network Setup Issue/Potential IP Addr Conflict

I just recently acquired an R710 and am attempting to set it up as an Unleashed WAP.  Starting off, I connected the device to my router through a PoE connection and attempted to allow DHCP to assign an IP (as I've seen conflicting reports to whether it supports it).  This did not work and my router did not acknowledge the device.  I suspected it may be due to an IP conflict as both my router and the R710 have a ..0.1 default address, so I removed the R710 from my router and configured it directly to my PC... still nothing.  I wasn't even able to ping the default R710 IP from PC.  Am I missing something obvious?

I believe that you have assigned the static IP on your PC in 192.168.xx.xx network and then try to ping the unleashed default AP.
