unless the AP and the controller are on the same subnet, a hard-reset wont work.
If the AP is hard-reset, connect to the AP using ssh or web and set its controller IP manually.
for the CLI its "set scg ip x.x.x.x" with the IP of the SCG.
you can also do "set scg syslog 0x888f" and then use "show syslog log" to see if its able to contact the controller.
