This Technical Support Bulletin describes a software limitation regarding the SZ upgrade from SZ 6.1.2.0.487 Patch-3 GD Release to SZ 7.0.0
Problem Statement
In the latest SmartZone 6.1.2.0.487 Patch-3 release, engineering has notified explicitly that the software upgrade from 6.1.2 Patch-3 to SZ 7.0.0 is not supported. Attempting this upgrade can potentially break the system.
Risk assessment
The severity of this issue is high as it can lead to system instability or failure if an unsupported upgrade is attempted.
Symptoms
We have recently announced SmartZone 6.1.2.0.487 Patch3 GD Release which introduced few new features. These features, however, are not merged to SZ 7.0.0 release. Due to these features mismatch, the SmartZone 6.1.2.0.487 Patch3 GD is incompatible for the upgrade to SZ 7.0.0.
This restriction is ONLY applicable to 6.1.2.0.487 Patch3 customers. Customers who are running 6.1.2.0.441 Patch2 or the older version of 6.1.2, can upgrade to SZ 7.0.0 Release.
