R510 stopped working after power outage

We had a power outage two weeks ago. First both our R510 didn’t power back up after the power went back on. We performed a power cycle of the ATT main router and the main Ruckus router. The power for both AP then finally turned back on. We get internet from the APs but it is unreliable. Sometimes even our main wifi breaks connectivity on its own. Our wifi performance overall have been degraded. I also cannot connect to the unleash application nor can I log in on the default IP for both Ruckus AP. When I log in to my ATT router, I see the list of equipment that uses/used our WiFi and Ruckus Unleash show “off”. I’ve read that firmware update for the AP should fix this, but I would need to log in to the default IP for the AP which I cannot do. Some suggest that I should try factory resetting. Will this really fix my problem? Is there a specific version of the Ruckus Unleash iOS app that I will also require? Please advice.

Pinky,

The procedure above still requires me to log in. As I have mentioned recently, I "cannot" log in due the credentials. The procedure you provided me for logging in without password after stop the boot process did/does not work.

Please advice.

Hello @AudreysRuckus24 ,

Thank you for the response.

May I please know if you have used the cable to connect the Switch to your laptop and then tried to access the CLI using the article I have shared in the previous post?

If yes, please let us know at which point you are getting stuck?

Awaiting your response.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi Pinky,

Yes, I used that same article to connect to the switch console and followed everything on there. It continues to ask to me for credentials to log in even after performing the no password boot procedure.

I really need to figure this out. It now affects our work calls significantly!

R.

Hello @AudreysRuckus24 ,

Thank you for the response.

From the response you shared, I understand that you are facing issues logging into the Switch CLI.

I would request you to please refer to the below You tube video in recovering the Switch password.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ynKwSTpd_A

Once you recovered the Switch password, edit the current or create a new password and username by using the below commands:

enable

configure terminal

device(config)# username super password pass

Where the username is ’super’ and password ‘pass’

In order to allow the correct authentication please run the following commands:
Device(config)#crypto key generate rsa

device(config)#aaa authentication login default local

device(config)#aaa authentication web-server default local

Now you could try using your new credentials to log in on CLI. (If new credentials do not work, please wait for some time and try again later)

Please let us know if you have any queries in this regard.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Pinky,

Great news! This one worked. Its the authentication commands that were missing. Also, in the procedure it would help other to let them know that the end of the boot is really when the script says "initialization complete". There seems to be window between that and timing out.

Below are some screen shots. Perhaps all I needed to do is to boot from primary, which has the switch code. secondary has the router. Looks fine to me. The other screen shot is a list of devices that were previously off before this work around. I need to confirm if that fixed our network problem.

Note, I still cant log in to my Access Point - what do I need to do next?

Thank you for the assistance on this one. This one was tough. To be honest , I think there needs to be a better way for Ruckus Switch to be configured. I have a little bit of background with working with Putty, but I cant imagine others struggling through this whos never done anything with networking. This is a very expensive switch, and should have better user interface for laymen.
