Beginner - help with access ICX7150-c12 on a MacBook

pietrasaurus

After extensive searching, I believe our switch has somehow managed to boot up on the wrong partition. To complicate things, I cannot access the switch via the mobile app - it wont accept any username/password I’ve tried.

Can someone provide step-by-step instructions on how to connect a MacBook to the switch, but assume the individual in need is very much a beginner and hasn’t a clue what they are doing…. where to click, the program needed, exact commands to enter, etc. We do have the appropriate cord, so that’s a solid start!

Hi @pietrasaurus

Thank you for the response and the information you shared,

Could you please let me know if there was a power outage/spike recently?

As you mentioned and as per the link you shared, about the routing code issue. If you are unable to access the Web GUI of the switch and perform the steps to fix the routing code issue. We can fix it by getting console access to the Switch as described below.

Below is the guide on how to console in the ICX-7150-C12P:

Once you get the access to the console, please enter the below commands.

Note: Hit Enter to accept each command

enable

show version

copy flash flash secondary

boot system flash secondary yes

(Please share the output screenshot of the ‘show version’ command to check the version of your Switch)

Switch Upgrade:

The recommended stable version is 8095g-

Below are the options or methods to perform the Upgrade on the switch:

1st Option:

1. In this option, we will use a pen drive or USB flash drive in which we move the files to the pen drive and connect it to the Switch then through CLI we execute the commands to upgrade the Switch using the following guide as a reference:

2nd Option:

2. The following guide is an example of an upgrade via TFTP server, by using an application (FREE) to send files or upload remote files to a device, in our case, we will use it to update a new version to the Switch, basically, it will send the image version remotely from the computer to the switch.

Hi @pietrasaurus

Thank you for contacting Lennar Home Community.

Hope you are doing well!!!

Thank you for the information you shared,

As per the case description, I could understand that you are trying to access your ICX-7150-C12P Switch on MAC and credentials are not working on Unleashed mobile app.

Could you please elaborate what exactly you want to access on your MAC device and why?

And for the username/password please refer to the below link and try with the different combinations.

Absolutely!  I should have included more info in the initial post, but was on a mobile device and kind of fed up with the troubleshooting.  Here's the meat and potatoes of the issue.

I believe this is what I am experiencing - https://community.ruckuswireless.com/t5/RUCKUS-Support-for-Lennar-Homes/How-to-Fix-Routing-code-issu...

We have At&t fiber and should not have any problems, but we've had issues off and on. I work from home and yesterday, lost my connection completely.  My work device was connected to ethernet but could not connect to the network. I started down the troubleshooting rabbit hole and eventually made headway with that issue, but in doing so noticed my switch shows as Pending, no IP address and comes up as router instead of switch.  I have downloaded several programs to try and find the IP of the switch, but it is not showing up when I run a scan.

I also believe we need to update the firmware, as we purchased our home in 2021 and haven't done anything since.

I have attempted every iteration of the default pw combos for the switch without any luck.

I am looking to just update the firmware and get the switch back to performing as it should be, but all the instructions and YouTube tuts seem to be geared toward windows devices.

Lennar Home Community.

I so appreciate all this info.

My ISP sent me a new gateway and once connected, the only device connected was the switch and I could see the IP. I was able to pull it up and I tried the login I use for the unleashed app - NOT the default login.  IT WORKED!  I was able to follow the instructions and get the switch booting from the primary partition.  We are now connected 🙂  also, much to my surprise, the firmware was updated.
