Issue Description:
This issue occurs when the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch ports get into a disabled/off state and do not transmit the Power to the Access Points via its Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports. The switch light status will be in a normal state however, there will be no lights on the Switch ports.
Environment:
- Product(s): RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P
- Software / Firmware Version: This is mostly on the Non-Unified Forwarding Image (UFI) version before 08.0.80f and can be avoided by upgrading the Switch to a stable UFI version.
- Other Conditions: -NA-
Root Cause:
When the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch reboots/restarts maybe after a power outage/spike and the Switch ports get into a disabled/off state causing No power to the Access Points or any other devices connected to the Switch ports.
Issue symptoms:
- RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch with GREEN lights on both "SYST" and "PWR". No lights on the Switch Ports.
- No lights on the Access Points as the Switch won’t be able to transmit power via its ports.
- Any device connected to the Switch will not work.

FIGURE 2 No lights on Ceiling Access Points as the Switch won’t be able to transmit power via its ports
Process on how to diagnose if it’s an PoE in a disabled/off issue and fix it:
1. First, we must identify the ‘current’ IP address assigned to the Switch by your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) Router to the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch. Here is the guide on How to find the IP Address of the RUCKUS Devices (Switch and APs) using IP Scanner free applications
FIGURE 3 Switch Dashboard screenshot on a web browser to confirm it’s a Switch IP Address
2. Once we identify the IP address of the Switch proceed to access remotely the device “Command Line Interface” (CLI). Here is the guide on How to access the Command Line Interface (CLI) of the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P Switch
Once you access the Command line (CLI), it should look like the prompts below:
ICX7150-C12 Switch> (Accessing CLI using SSH option)
telnet@ICX7150-C12 Switch> (Accessing CLI using Telnet option when SSH doesn’t work)
Please enter the below commands once you log in to CLI to check the same:
Note: Hit Enter to accept each command
ICX7150-24P Switch>enable
ICX7150-24P Switch#show inline power
There should be a similar output of the command as highlighted in the FIGURE 3 to confirm that the PoE is in the disabled/off state on all the ports of the Switch. By which the Access Points or devices connected to the Switch are unable to get the power or not working.
FIGURE 4 PoE is in the disabled/off state on all the ports of the Switch
To fix this issue and enable the PoE on the Switch, please perform the commands on the CLI:
Switch>enable
No password has been assigned yet...
Switch#configure terminal
Switch(config)#interface ethernet 1/1/1 to 1/1/12
Switch(config-mif-1/1/1-1/1/12)#inline power
FIGURE 5 Reference screenshot
Once you perform the above process all ports should be On, and APs should get the power.
Once the RUCKUS ICX-7150-C12P switch ports come online, should fix the issue. We can confirm by checking the ‘show inline power’ command output as mentioned above.
