Hi all, I am troubleshooting an ICX 7150 switch. I mis-configured it and would like to factory reset.
I have attempted to do this via CLI but for some reason it will not let me login using any of the user accounts created - the passwords were copy and pasted so I have no idea how they don't work, but nonetheless, none of them are working.
This means I have to hard reset the device, but that is not working either. I have tried the steps below:
- Remove power from the switch.
- Press and hold the Reset button while applying power to the switch.
- After all the system LEDs flash amber, release the Reset button.
Please advise on how I can get this device back to a factory state so I can configure from a clean startup.

Hi mirrorturtle ,
Thank you for posting you query !!!
I understand that in ICX 7150 you would like to factory reset . But via CLI it wont let you login and you have tried the steps for hard rest the switch but no luck.
I have a question for you here :
>Did you use any pin to press the rest button if not can you please try the rest method which I have mentioned below.
>What was the firmware version you are using.
Could you please try to follow the below steps for hard rest :
Steps for Factory reset using reset button on supported models:
======================================================
0. In uboot prompt set the 'bootdelay' env to more seconds for easy testing, eg: setenv bootdelay 20
1. Power OFF the box.
2. Press the 'reset' button in the box using any pin and to be hold without releasing.
3. Power ON the box.
4. In few seconds, all Status Mode LEDs will be flashing in Amber(orange) colour.
5. After that flashing, after 2 seconds, now release the pin from reset button.
6. Check is factory reset happening in the box.

Hi mirrorturtle,
Glad to know that the password recovery and factory reset from boot mode worked perfectly.
If the reset button is not working despite following the instructions, Could you confirm for us if only on this particular unit reset button is not working or any other unit also in which reset button is not working?
If only this particular unit reset button is not working then I suspect this to be a hardware issue.

Hi Mirrorturtle
Thank you for reaching us
I would suggest you to 1st gain access to the switch using the Password recovery link mentioned in previous post.
Also could you please let us know if you have access to console of the switch ? To try the above mentioned password recovery you would need console access.
Password recovery would also depend on the firmware version you are running , For 9010 and above version there a simple added procedure to reset from OS> mode. Password recovery process from ICX7150_boot> mode applies to both 9010 and 8090 and above versions.
With regard to reset button
Thanks
