We have set of stack switches that get a very high CPU usage which drops RDP connections and slow everything down.Image_ images_messages_5f91c3f7135b77e2478ffbeb_a6b8241a36cda7552165cbe82f5334e2_RackMultipart20181212116498wnc-00acb0af-b114-437a-9e33-d49a623fa9e6-1451279427.png1544619548 Image_ images_messages_5f91c3f7135b77e2478ffbeb_72acc250567605fe2ab81bcbb36f763b_RackMultipart20181212736731est-7e9a1625-9989-49c7-b82d-490651222b8e-450063658.png1544619617Image_ images_messages_5f91c3f7135b77e2478ffbeb_7d84b2ef632b041f5a73a23065d38f28_RackMultipart20181212438251cc7-9874041d-b2de-4a4a-abcd-db971f2de83d-1403770029.png1544619645

Hi Graeme - Can you help answer the following questions to help us understand the issue better?

How big is the arp and mac table? (show arp, show mac-add)
How many unit in the stack?
What version of code it's running? Is this routing or switching code?
Do you have igmp snooping (multicast active/passive) and/or PIM (sparse/dense) enabled? check these output:
show run | inc multicast|pim
show ip pim mcache (collect 3x)
show multicast mcache (collect 3x)

In this case, it might be best to open case with support with the above output and showtech so we can help investigate the issue more accurately.

Thanks,

Vu

Hello, this is a stack of two 6610s and five 6450s. Each member of the stack is running r0803t. Current ARP entries are 206. Mac address table is 320.
Yes, multicast is active:
ip multicast active
ip multicast version 3
ip multicast-routing
router pim
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse
 ip pim-sparse

There are over 100 entries in the PIM cache but we just disabled pim routing.
Thanks.
