R850 Mesh Support in SmartZone

Does the R850 Support Mesh in SmartZone as Root AP or Mesh AP?

I had two separate occasions, one with vSZ v6 and one with SZ124 controllers on v6.2, where I tried to deploy a mesh with R850 APs but failed.

All R850 APs were provisioned via cable connection and all automatically took the RAP / root AP role. Then one R850 was disconnected after provisioning and powered via PoE injector, while still being very close to another AP that showed as root AP.

However, the AP that is now connected via injector did not connect via Mesh to the other APs.

Mesh was of course enabled (both mesh and Zero Touch Mesh)

Any ideas? Is this R850 specific?

Hello Greens Theorem,

Thank you for writing to us.

Yes, the R850 AP models do support Mesh. Did we verify if the AP was delivered full power as needed by the injector? The R850 needs at least( DC Power,PoH, uPoE(Max)) 31.0 W to function properly. Below is the R850 link to verify the Power Consumption required.

To further investigate this issue, could you please open a support case with us through the following link: Contact Ruckus Support

Please let us know once the case is created so we can assist you accordingly.

Note: Starting from 5.2.1.0.515 version, the WiFi 6 APs support mesh on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.

Thank you!
