R510 AP Compatibility

Like so many here, I have 2 r510 APs (one downstairs and one upstairs). The home is roughly 3800sf so there are a couple dead spots I believe can be fixes with some recommended tweaks (wink wink). I'm also looking for a way to extend coverage to my backyard. So is it as simple as adding an extender or would I need to wire another PoE AP outside? If I can add an extender, are the Ruckus r510 compatible with just anything?

Hello,

Please check if the APs are operating on full Tx power.

You have to compromise on wifi throughput if you opt for extenders as you will get only half of the bandwidth using extenders.

Based on the current setup, I would recommend deploying another AP outdoor with POE.

Great advice. Thanks Vignesh

What is the cheapest outdoor AP compatible with the R510?

Hello @jimmy1559

E510, T310 and T610 are the basic outdoor AP models which shares the same chipset as R510.
